![]() I'm thinking since he's Gryffindor, maybe a sorrel I have to admit though, it's a pretty neat Hogwarts pony! |

Impressive. Was he papered? Did you compete? Hubby had a horse that was from the King QH line (straight out of Texas) - which I believe has the some of the same bloodline. He had her bred to an Arabian (the large ones from Europe) which produced a filly that we had until only a couple years ago. hubby took her passing extremely hard. She was one hell of a horse - the power of the qh and the stamina of the Arabian and one hell of a personality .... I don't think I'll ever see another one quite like her ever again. Her daughter, the only horse we have remaining, will be 14 yrs on June 2. She was born when we lived in Michigan. |

He was a registered Paint out of a AQHA dam. Hence the reason I'm a life member of the APHA. The money just wasn't there to do much of any competition. Mostly just pleasure and trails. Though I did get to work him a couple of time at a friends cattle farm*. * They had half interest in a world champ Black Angus bull. By far the best meat you ever tasted!!! |

Trail riding is fun ... more fun that competitions in my opinion. I believe the 4H has a horse club; small competitions for experience only. I think things like key-hole, gate opening, backing up in confined spaces, walking over strange objects like tarps, crossing bridges ... that kind of skill training ... which is great for kids. All about learning respect for the animal, and becoming a team. I'm not sure if they have things like that around here, but I've attended a few when I lived in Alberta and British Columbia. Black Angus is indeed the best steak ever! Yummmmm-Yummmmmm! |

As you are well aware, the cheapest part of having a horse, is the initial purchase. Would have liked to have done more, but am very thankful for the time I had with him!!! ![]() Still keep a hoof pick in my jean jacket pocket... You just never know. |

Love that pic! And yes, my first thought was our own PH! And love the little Hedwig! btw...buffalo and moose taste a LOT better than beef. But being Native American...I may be a bit biased. ![]() |
