Well - I certainly hope the wind passing through here doesn't affect any of you.
We are expected to have wind chill of up to -50°C ... don't think we'll beat the -54 (or -56) we got in December, but still cold!!! :occasion-snowman:

Won't be quite that cold here (that I know of) but the -30's windchill last week is enough for me. Stay warm, Howler.

Finally got above 0F(-18C) today. Have had a total of about a foot and a half (46cm) of snow over the last 4/5 days.
Also had a true Howler day yesterday when the wind chill reached -45 (-43C)
It's nothing all that uncommon, but the last few years have been milder, so folks aren't used to it. :handgestures-thumbupright:

It was 52 yesterday and rained like hell then froze when the temps went down at sunset. Low teens today with below 0 windchill. Yup...no happy medium. Supposed to get our January thaw this weekend, which will be good. Tired of the 1 1/2 inches of ice in my driveway! Lets hope we all stay warm except six...stay cool girlfriend!

2014-01-09 20:02 UTC CME Has Arrived

The coronal mass ejection (CME), originally expected to arrive around 0800 UTC (3:00 a.m. EST) today, January 9, was observed at the ACE spacecraft just upstream of Earth at 1932 UTC (2:32 p.m. EST). It’s too early to see much with respect to the magnetic structure of this CME, but short-term, high-confidence warnings will be issued as this event plays out. The original forecast continues to be for G3 (Strong) Geomagnetic Storm activity on January 9 and 10. Aurora watchers may be in luck for tonight. The ongoing Solar Radiation Storm, currently at S2 (Moderate) levels, is seeing a modest enhancement with this shock passage but remains below S3 (Strong) threshold at this time.
