It warms my heart to see there are community minded individuals such as yourself still around.

Rain all day. Winds picking back up, especially tomorrow.

Maybe you could rig up a sail, to save gas.

Ice skates on the tires...now there's a thought. Not much here. Lots of wind, some rain, cold. Actually got light snow and a little sleet but nothing that would be of any concern. Winds have mellowed a little and sunny today finally but still cold. A small preview of what's to come, I'm sure. Saw the forecast for Figgy's area...hoping they stay on the lighter side of that scale.

My area dodged the bullet. We got about 8" of snow, mostly pretty and quiet. I love my mountains! They knocked down the wind or re-directed it so that we just got a nice snowfall. Twenty miles east of here, not so much.

The weather guy who drew the short straw was stationed on the southeast corner of Denver's 'burbs, 'couldn't inhale sufficiently to be able to speak, due to horizontal winds sandblasting him with icy snow no matter which way he turned. I-70 just east of Denver to the Kansas border (probably farther, but our news guys don't say much past the state's edges... sometimes I envision this half-mile drop-off at the borders, like the state is thrust up into the sky ala "expanded graphic" style) finally re-opened about 4pm this afternoon.

I did two rounds of clearing (11pm and 3am), by noon the sun had everything dry and wonderful.
* happy dance * Best of both worlds, lots of moisture, only a day of dealing with its arrival.

From any place that gets direct sun, yes, and all the places that had been cleared (because they only had a half inch on them between when last cleared and sun-up so it wasn't much to melt). The shaded areas still have some snow, but even it melted down a bunch. There are some iceberg ridges in the street where the snowplows churned up rows. Farther east there is still lots, though... like 5ft drifts and schools closed, lots.

lol weather is remarkable isn't it! I remember the huge (lake effect) snowfalls in Michigan - anywhere between 3-6 ft ; but only 20 miles away they usually just got 3-6 inches. remarkable isn't it.
