Hey Howler. Been watching the news...when it was reported it could be headed to your neck of the woods, I thought of you and your family. When I heard how few firefighters were working the fire, I wondered how come no one from anywhere else was there to help. Good grief. Didn't even think of the smoke and haze...oops. If I could send you some of the rain we've gotten, I'd be more than happy to do it. Stay safe, Howler.

Cloudy all week, nice late Friday (couldn't wait to get home and open some windows!) and most of yesterday then back to cloudy and occasional rain today. At least we're going to have decent weather this week.

no worries Moo ... I certainly don't expect everyone to know what is happening in my little neck of the prairies.
The winds have certainly kept the smoke in my area down; only a bit of haze. The thickest haze in already in the eastern part of the province.

We sure could use some of that rain though ... it is crazy tinder dry here!

ask and you shall receive ... lol
we got rain - it started yesterday and is going to continue throughout today. Not sure how much yet, but it came down pretty good last night (maybe a couple inches). And it cooled down so much that it may even turn into that crappy white stuff this morning.

Will it hit that heavily to the west?

this rain is coming up from Montana; it is heading in a north west direction, so there is always that possibility ... but I don't think the pressure system is strong enough to last all the way to the fires in Alberta. I do believe they have it under control now. I think (but am not sure) that the winds changed directions and blew it back into the burned area causing it to extinguish itself (but like I said, I am not 100% sure of that).

the rain is expected to stay in our area until about noon tomorrow. It is only 2C here; I am hoping it does not freeze over night making the highways total chaos in the morning. We certainly needed the moisture (!) so I won't complain.

The rains subsided by noon yesterday. I think we ended up with approx. 2-½" in town.

Been rather nice all week here. Some of the smoke from the Alberta fire made it my neck of the woods. Milky haze we usually don't see until the summer. Got some rain Friday night and last night. Cloudy and a lot cooler for the next few days. At least it's supposed to be back to nice by the middle of the week but we'll be looking for some rain to keep the pollen and fire danger down. Tree pollen is causing some problems.

The Alberta fires are moving into Saskatchewan.
The smoke has drifted heavily into our area.

How far away from your area are they? I realize your Province is huge and the wind can carry smoke a long distance, but what is the probability of these getting to where you are?
