Here's what we've had going on all week (there are some nifty videos, be sure to click on 'em).

Thanks to The Colorado Sun .

And thanks to Denver's Channel 4.

Wow. Hope you are not doing any travelling Figgy!!!
When I lived in the mountains, avalanches were my biggest fear. Be it rock, snow, or mud, all are extremely dangerous!

Yup, I believe in Gravity... We frequently have rocks bounce down the mountains, bashing cars, knocking over trees. About ten years ago a football-sized one managed to hit in exactly the right spot to go through the windshield and crush the chest of the guy who ran the market. He didn't even know what hit him.

An avalanche killed one of the people working on stopping a gravel pit here. He was our front-man,
did all the talking on radio and TV shows. It will hurt our cause that he's not around anymore. The weirdest part is that he was a REALLY experienced back-country guide; was taking pictures and movies for a group called Powder Addiction when the slide hit. The rest of the PA group that was with him, dug him out and had a Flight For Life chopper ready to take him to a hospital as fast as they could, but... On a scale of 1 to 10, he was a 9.9 in knowing what to do, and it still got him. We're all in shock.

This is being a weird time. 'Lots of passages and transitions.

Lets hope we all have much better weather and don't have to worry about anymore snow, ice, and avalanches. Enough is enough.

We've had rain on the weekends and little warming which has melted a LOT of the snow and ice. Supposed to be in the 50s today but rain for now, showers later. And, of course, wind wind wind over the next couple of days. At least we're not getting snow. Just have to watch out for ice jams on the rivers; flooding could turn out to be a major issue for northern Maine because of melting and rain. Fingers crossed.

Snow all day yesterday - about 5 inches. Luckily it was my normal day off. This morning, went to clear the end of the driveway...what I thought was large, clumpy snow turned out to be large, clumpy chunks of ice. ugh! Needless to say, didn't make it to work due to my back not liking moving that crap at the end of the driveway. ouch. More snow - 2 to 4 inches - this evening into tomorrow. Yippee.

The last five or so days have been in high fifties or mid-sixties, tomorrow and Thursday is 6 to 10 inches of snow. Same storm is going to slam Minnesota and be blizzards across the plains farther south. Hopefully it will exhaust its energy before it gets to your neck of the woods, Moo. Then its back to sixties by Monday here.

Got a total of about 8.5 inches. BLAH! Luckily we've had temps warm enough to melt most of it and hoping this is it. Got to open the windows yesterday with temps in the mid 60s! That was so nice. Rain tonight and all day tomorrow. At least it won't be white! Now we'll have to keep an eye on the rivers...flooding concerns. Yup, tis that time of year.
