Speaking of Cheese ~ If you have the Galbani brand in your grocery stores (here its always on the refrigerated stand/kiosk/thingy that has the better/ deli cheeses) one of their kinds called Grilling Cheese. Its dryer and more dense, so makes a better grilled cheese sandwich... doesn't melt and run out of the bread onto the pan. And it comes in varieties with peppers or bits of bacon.

I just discovered this stuff about a month ago. Its pretty good.

the higher the concentration of corn starch in cheese, the less melt. Learned that a few years ago

we had about a half hour of the white stuff yesterday. GIGANTIC white wet flakes. did not last long, and completely melted within a few hours. YAY!!

got my "Sn _ _" tires put on my vehicle yesterday. Studded and ready to roll
mind you ... any day without the white stuff is a very good day indeed!

There you go again, spouting four-letter words.

lol! It is getting to be that time of year to spout four-letter words! lol!

Was nice the first part of the week then rain then nice then more rain then nice then a little more rain...it's a friggin' yoyo around here! The mountains got more snow but not a lot; rumor is we may see snow showers this week. Yup. Getting to be that time of year. And definitely getting chillier and a bit breezy so that means...windchill! ugh! Guess it's time to suck it up and be ready. ho hum...

OMG ... will those hurricane winds EVER ease up!!!
"need sleep" ... winds are too loud
well, and new drain pipes and possibly roof shingles lost due to the winds. (just as soon as I can get outside to check how many blew away)

Update: Just read on our local site that the wind has blown over a street light/light pole

I keep trying... The intention is there, but I must not be clear on where the Spell's target is.

(Tell us how you fared, K? Be safe.)

A few power lines and power poles were downed within 10 miles west of here. Thankfully my home is on a grid east of town. I had power the whole time. My friend, who is 4 miles out of town was out of power for nearly 30 hours. They are on a farm, so I think they may have a generator (not sure). Another friend would lives about 10 miles away, was also without power for over 24 hours. A power pole with the lines attached is one thing, but when the line itself breaks and keeps swinging in the wind, it is quite another ... power guys can only do so much in mock 10 winds.

I lost a few shingles ... not near as many as I thought I would. However, a couple of my small trees were uprooted (my only fruit bearing chokecherry bush actually). And a few other things completely ruined. Plus a few chairs tipped. the fence is still standing, so that is great! Nothing major and nothing (hopefully) that can't be repaired come spring. As long as my home is safe and sound, and all the occupants in it (naturally), all is good. It honestly felt like my house 'moved' during the storm. Most likely in my mind of course, but that is how it felt.

Caught my downspout extensions before they blew away, so that is another bonus. The winds started up again yesterday after I reattached them to the downspouts so had to bring them inside again. Will try attaching them again in a couple days.

I likely faired better than a few other people in town. I have heard that one person lost half their shingles (I think a few blew into my yard), and a few large trees were uprooted. All in all ... I really shouldn't have much to complain about.

wow, Howler. Thank goodness you came through it okay. We've had a little rain here, a little snow in the upper elevations, that's about it. Rain tomorrow, nice through Thanksgiving. But we're supposed to have winds but nothing like what you had, Howler. And cold. No snow. Yet. ha ha.

(Any way to stake your fruit-bearing trees back up, Howler?)

We've had some good winds in the last couple weeks, but not like that! We are mostly toddling along (similarly to Moo) except its quite warm.

We've also had "measurable snow", but Denver hasn't and just passed a "latest measurable first snow of the season" date on Sunday - it was set in 1934, and it doesn't look like any chance for snow for them for at least a week.

.

There's no such thing as climate change...
