in the city that is approx 30 miles away got a nasty storm yesterday evening.
Hail - flash flooding - lots of lightning (but the tornado missed them)
where I live got 3 drops of rain, no wind ... nothing. The wood on my deck didn't even get wet.

not that I would want all the hail they got (lots of photos of people shoveling their sidewalks because there was so much), but why the heck couldn't mother nature give us a little bit of the rain ...
temps are well into the 90's last week and this week. No end in sight. I think they give us a rain prediction next weekend - but I highly expect it is just to tease us so we don't all get severely depressed.

We finally got a break. After baking and melting all week, got rain late yesterday afternoon that lasted until early this morning. Cleared out the humidity and wicked high dew points. Finally. Beautiful today, cool, low dew points, temps during the day in the mid to upper 70s and upper 50s at night (go figure!) all week...it's wonderful. ahhhhhh!

Supposed to have rain a couple of time this week but the kind that messes up your windshield and waters the lawn. I'm guessing this is what "normal" is supposed to be? Anyhoo, works for me! No icky stickies until next weekend.

After a couple "wettest months on record" we suddenly weren't getting any rain at all (for about three weeks or more). My yard looks like poorly cured hay stubs. But the last two days we've had some really nice rains. The kind that get everything nice and moist without doing flash floods (at least not this high up). Its too late for the grass, but the other plants are happy... as am I.

We've had so much rain, I'd LOVE to send some your way and Howler's. ugh! The deluge we got first part of last week caused a lot of flooding and some road damage. The ground here is so saturated, there isn't any place for more rain to go. Rain all day, a little sunshine to bake everything then more rain and thunderstorms. Also makes it hard getting the grass dried out enough so my mow guy can mow the lawn. Finally got a break yesterday and he was able to mow. Today - more rain. blah.

I'm a bit concerned on how much snow we'll get this winter, if the amount of rain we've gotten this spring and summer is any indication. At least if we know ahead of time, we'll be able to take our laptops home and telework. That's always a plus in the winter time.

Still a major drought in my town. Most of the province is getting lots of rain - it just always seems to miss our little area. It rain a total of 3/4" on July 10th, and 3/4" on Aug 11th. Needless to say most of my beautiful flowers are now all crispy fried - the cost of watering them was too high in July.

Our temps have cooled off quite a bit. Low 80s is now a blessing but at least it's been in the 70s. We've had such a rainy summer, it's depressing sometimes. It wouldn't be so bad if we just got the usual summer storms - sun heats everything up, gets cloudy, rains for about 15 minutes then clears out for the rest of the day. But no, Mother Nature is still dumping on us. At least it's beautiful today. Supposed to be nice this week, rain on Wednesday (hopefully that's it), then nice through the weekend. I can live with that.

Howler, I'd LOVE to send some of this rain your way. We've gotten "the dome" over us before and it sucks when you need rain. We could use that dome for a while but it's not showing up. Got about 2" total of rain Friday and yesterday. blah. My condolences to your poor flowers. Hopefully, Mother Nature will have a change of heart, ditch the dome, and send rain your way.

LOL - get your wand at the ready Moo!! We still want rain.

A little to late for the farmers though. Crops that used to get 60+ bushels to the acre produced approx 3-6 bushels to the acre. A lot of livestock has been transported to the few areas of the province that got rain; a lot sold to reduce the costs.

Got a taste of fall the past few nights...temp was 42 Thursday night and 47 Friday night! At least the temps recovered nicely Friday and yesterday...in the 70s! This week, it's supposed to be in the 80s along with humidity. Wonderful. Bake and melt. Lovely.

We've been doing similar overnight temps, but our days have been more along the lines of mid-to-high-60s. Its been feeling just a tad chillier than usual, and we've had some nice rain that I'd love to have continue as it's been doing until its time for snow. They've grown enough grassy brushy stuff that it would be bad for it to dry out and just sit there waiting to catch fire. And we're getting purple flowers. There is an aster/daisy one we call frost flowers, supposedly it starts blooming six weeks before the first frost.

oh - they must be beautiful Figgy! I used to have tons of asters in one of my flower beds - love a lot of the autumn blooms. Not sure what happened, but they all died one year (about 5 years ago). I miss having color in my gardens come Sept/Oct.

dryer than a popcorn fart here still
there was a lot of rain just a couple miles south and east of our town the other day ... but not a drop at my place :crying-blue:
