While the logic of posting this in a spot where this info will be inaccessible when it happens escapes me... please be advised that:

Thanks Figgy. Maybe we could put a condensed version in the shoutbox - one would still need to log in to view it though. Guess if someone emails, we will be able to explain at least. Are they giving us any particular day or are we just left with 'one day next week'

It seems to be a surprise. They notified exactly as quoted above.
This was sent to our own Dumbledore. Perhaps that's why we mere mortals don't quite understand.

(I'm hoping that means they are so brilliant that they don't realize how vague what they sent is....)

But, it sounds like there will only be 15 or so minutes of down time and we might not even notice.

I wish I/we knew how to put a banner or crawl across the top, below or above our 'pic-name-pic' banner that would flash urgent news or exciting events and catch everyone's attention.

Or maybe we could get our super-powered Admin to put in a "News" box on the front page/login page that we could access and add news items when necessary
