Just the way she talked about Harry coming to her on the train, that the concept was whole and real, pretty much defines inspiration. I haven't heard anything about "inspiration" connected to this Galbraith project. There are styles I can't write no matter what I do and others that flow easily.

In any case, I certainly hope she does better by Newt.

I think her imagination is incredible. It is a pity she is trying to write something that is in the 'real' element. What she needs is another imaginary world. Maybe it will happen - maybe not. Some authors only have one good story in them. If that is the case, her one story was an international sensation and she is extremely lucky and privileged!

Then again, because Casual Vacancy is taken on as a TV series, maybe she will continue writing the crap, oops, meant TV scripts.

J.K. Rowling tweeted “Well, that’s me crying my eyes out, so job done. Serves me right, some might say. Thank you, thank you xxx” to the director of BBC One’s adaptation of her Casual Vacancy. The mini series aired its third and final episode last night. Many fans are in an uproar over the changed ending between Rowling’s written word and the mini series. However, Rowling seems to be satisfied, as well as a lot of reviewers. The Telegraph wrote a “bravo” review, saying:

This biting, blackly comic drama reminded me of mid-Eighties series A Very Peculiar Practice, Blott on the Landscape and Porterhouse Blue – panoramic ensemble pieces with a cartoonish sense of the absurd.

This, in case you’re in any doubt, is entirely a good thing.

The review uncovers many spoilers, especially it’s reaction to the changed ending, and can be read here.

YouTube also posted trailers for the third installment of the mini series, as well as a sneak peak, which can be seen below.

changed ending? ... I don't even remember the original ending & I refuse to read the book again. It has taken some time to wash the taste of that book in my memory(reading the Terry Pratchett books helped bunches).

I don't understand the "serves me right" comment - what does she mean?

I certainly didn't find any "biting, blackly comic" content in what I read of CV.

Having only been able to make it through the first few chapters before deciding a cereal box would be more interesting to read and going on to books that weren't so boring, I can't say for sure, but... The Telegraph article that is linked to says the changed ending has to do with which character(s) get killed off. I'm guessing the "serves me right" comment is the same lame not-quite-an-apology she gave us when she killed off Sirius or Fred or any other unnecessary-to-kill character.

I don't really remember the ending either.
Did I miss something? The book was meant to be comical?

Maybe it was just meant to be a sick joke on us, the readers.

I'm not sure I'll be able to work up the gumption to watch it, when broadcast over here.
