Thanks to The Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/thi ... 3a9b48072c Quote: This ‘Harry Potter’ Prequel Breathes New Life Into James Potter And Severus Snape’s Backstory Potterheads get a glimpse of the past. 03/25/2016 12:33 pm ET 1.5 K Cavan Sieczkowski Deputy Director, News & Analytics [ click here to see the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmsntGGjxiw ] What if fans were able to decide the direction of the next “Harry Potter” installment? That’s exactly what happened when Broad Strokes Productions used the Facebook account Harry Potter Untold Tales to do some crowdsourcing and find what people who love the magical series hoped to see next. “I did a poll on our Facebook page with a few story options, and it was almost unanimous that the fans wanted a story about the Marauders,” director Justin Zagri told BuzzFeed. “So, I read the books again, did some research, and came up with a story that I feel had something to say, while making sure we got to know both Snape and the Marauders when they were transitioning into adults, and how events of their past helped shape their future.” Thus was born “Severus Snape and the Marauders,” a 25-minute short film released March 1 that takes place in 1978, right after James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew — the four Gryffindors otherwise known as the Marauders — Severus Snape and Lily Evans graduate from Hogwarts. What unfolds focuses on James and his rival Snape. “The response has been really passionate, but for the past 24 hours it has exploded and we’re all kind of overwhelmed by it,” Zagri told The Huffington Post in an email Friday. “The idea behind this was I wanted to tell a story that showed teenagers [who] were maturing into adults that culminated in a single moment that really changed these characters. For better or worse.” Zagri was also behind the 2013 “Harry Potter”-inspired short film “The Greater Good.” . |

wow - that was something else! like you said Figgy ... Outstanding! If it were me, I would title the clip "Recruitment Night". They put together a movie clip that explains so well how actions and reactions can change the course of lives; how victims are sometimes the perpetrators; and that every person has a breaking point. We are what we choose - no matter what the reason that may have pushed us into making the choice; when at the crossroad, we always have to choose. |

Mercy! I'm not sure if outstanding really does this justice. The best part is that they're still doing this years after the books and movies! I like how they interpreted Canon and adapted it to create a scenario that was original, while remaining loyal. Yates and Alfonso could certainly take a lesson from these folks! |

The casting alone was a bazillion times better than any that @#$%^&* Cuaron stuck us with. I loved it when Peter was trying to schmooze Snape then squealed and ran off as a rat. AND!!! Snape's reaction was perfect. There was a hint of surprise, but having always been around magic , he wasn't startled. And Lily! Spot on! Looked right, attitude right, abilities right, just perfect. The whole thing was just so well done. But then, when you loved the books its easier to "be" the character, than, say, #$%^&*@ Gambon, who couldn't even be bothered to do enough research to say BeauBatons right, let alone actually "be" Dumbledore. He showed no respect for the character, or us, the fans. Did you read the 4th line from the end of the credits? Even that is perfect! |

I better go back and reread the credits. I think the movie really showed the core of the characters personalities. They got them spot on! What a difference it makes when a true fan creates the characters for a story rather than a producer/director just wanting to create something that will bring in lots of money. |

Agreed! They got the characters down. For these guys, the story was more important than their egos. |
