Harry Potter star Rupert Grint welcomes first child with girlfriend Georgia Groome

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has welcomed his first child with girlfriend Georgia Groome, it has been confirmed. It first emerged that Georgia, 28, was pregnant in April when she was spotted out with the 31-year-old actor, who played Ron Weasley, with her baby bump on show in north London. Reps announced on Thursday (6 May) that Rupert and Georgia are now proud parents of a baby girl. ‘Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,’ they said in a statement.


‘We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.’ It makes Rupert the first Harry Potter star out of his main co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson to become a parent. The joyful news emerged just hours after Daniel, who played boy wizard Harry, revealed he had congratulated the couple on their impending arrival. ‘As soon as I found out, I texted him,’ Daniel told Inquirer.

‘I’m incredibly happy for him. He and Georgia have been together for a while. It’s really exciting. It is crazy to think because it’s in my head. It still feels like we’ve basically just met and we are about 16 years old.’ Rupert and Georgia have made sure to keep their relationship as private as possible ever since they were first linked, nine years ago. So much so that loyal fans were shocked to see pictures of the lovebirds together back in 2018. However, Rupert turned this all around in a very candid interview shortly after turning 30, where he opened up about taking the next step in life. Chatting to the Guardian, he said: ‘Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds.

‘I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. ‘I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.’ But Harry Potter fans were a little heartbroken to find out that Ron was absolutely not at the top of any baby name list if he had a boy. ‘If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not,’ Rupert added. ‘And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.’

Rupert shot to fame starring as Harry’s sidekick Ron starring in all eight movies. He’s since gone on to star in Sky One comedy Sick Note, crime drama Snatch and Agatha Christie adaption The ABC Murders. Georgia is also known in her own right, appearing in 2008’s Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, as well as 2006’s crime drama London To Brighton.

Rupert Grint and girlfriend Georgia Groome were every inch the doting parents as they took their baby girl out for a walk in the sunshine. The Harry Potter actor and Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging star welcomed their first child together recently, confirming their happy news earlier this month. And they were spotted wearing matching face masks as they got some fresh air on a stroll with the little one. Georgia, 28, rocked a white t-shirt and leggings for the outing, completing her look with a jacket and sunglasses.

While Rupert, 31, went for a similarly casual look in a black X Files t-shirt and black trousers, following suit with black sunglasses and a basketball cap. Fans were shocked when it first emerged that the couple – who have been dating since 2011 – were set to start a family together in April.

Just a few short weeks later, reps confirmed that they had become proud parents for the first time. ‘Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,’ they said in a statement. ‘We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.

They have yet to share a picture of their little one, or reveal her name with fans. But, seeing as they’ve kept most of their relationship firmly behind closed doors, we might be waiting a while for any more details. Rupert is the first star from the main Harry Potter trio to become a parent – something co-star Daniel Radcliffe admitted he’s still trying to get his head around.


In a video call with Watch What Happens Live, the 30-year-old, who starred as Harry Potter in the insanely successful wizarding franchise, said: ‘I texted him the other day and said I was so happy for him and it’s very very cool. ‘It’s also like super weird, for me, to think that we are all at the age where we are all having children, but we definitely are.’


Previously speaking about his pal’s impending arrival, he told the Inquirer: ‘I’m incredibly happy for him. He and Georgia have been together for a while. ‘It’s really exciting. It is crazy to think because it’s in my head. It still feels like we’ve basically just met and we are about 16 years old.’

'Harry Potter' star Rupert Grint confirms baby girl's birth

May 8 (UPI) -- Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is a new dad.

Us Weekly reported Thursday that Grint, 31, and his longtime girlfriend, actress Georgia Groome, welcomed their first child together, a daughter.

Grint and Groome's rep confirmed the news Thursday to People.

"Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl," the rep said. "We Would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time."

News broke in April that Grint and Groome were expecting.

"Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time," the couple's rep said.

Grint had expressed his desire to have kids in an interview with The Guardian in 2018.

"Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn't feel like I'm there yet and I don't know what the future holds. I'm just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I'd like to settle down and have kids soon," he said.

Grint played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, which co-starred Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Radcliffe kicked off a new online series this week that features celebrities reading the first Harry Potter book aloud for fans.

Grint portrays Julian Pearce on the Apple TV+ series Servant. Groome is known for playing Georgia Nicholson in the movie Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
