Thanks to Harry Potter Folklore on YouTube. Its a nice consideration of the "why". There's not much in the way of new info here, but its fun to think about the stuff we were thinking about when we read Book 3. |

Hmmm... I am not sure about this one Everyone knew that Sirius would likely be the secret keeper. I am thinking he chose wormtail over Lupin because of Lupin's "condition" rather than trust or lack there of. What if Lupin accessed the Potter's home during the full moon phase? What if ... ??? Sirius trusted both Lupin and Wormtail and chose Wormtail. I don't think he ever doubted either friend's loyalty (even though he knew wormtail was weak). I just don't think Sirius wanted to take the chance with Lupin. just my opinion though... |

I like your ideas about "what if" and could even envision that discussion having gone on with Dumbledore telling at least one of them that Lupin and Full Moon would have to disqualify him. Its just logical. In the Shrieking Shack when they make peace and go after Wormtail, they apologize to eachother, something about each having not trusted the other one. They don't go into detail as to WHY they mistrusted, but it seemed normal to me at the time that the bad guys would be able to plant doubt in the minds of cohorts... it seemed like everyone mistrusted everyone else. . |

maybe the mistrust came AFTER Sirius was placed in Azkaban. Let's face it, Sirius was never allowed to give his side of the story or chose not to. In everyone's eyes he was guilty. Lupin most likely mistrusted him after that ... or at least sat on the fence between 'mistrust' and 'loyalty'. |
