Thanks to Harry Potter Theory from You Tube.

We've found and discussed many of these, but its fun to go through them again.

Excellent video. Always good to review the plot holes. I think there are many more than what this fella indicated, but no matter - I think we have picked apart the story fairly well actually. There was a comment below the video that disagreed with the portraits having no emotion (etc) - I tend to agree with the comment. All the portraits retained some of their personalities, even if they were no longer living. As indicated in the comment ...

I think the established line about portraits is bunk. They can feel emotion, why else would the fat lady be upset about being slashed and torn, or greave for Dumbledore after Harry tells her it's true. The portraits in the head masters office also show emotion, like Dexter Fortescue being outraged along with the others when Phineas Nigellus refuses to assist Dumbledore by seeking out Sirius. There's also the fact that Dumbledore's portrait is fully aware of the situation with his plan regarding Harry in the Deathly Hallows when speaking with Snape

And there's the portraits angrily yelling at Harry, and then Snape, to turn out their wand lights. Or The Fat Lady being afraid after her portrait is shredded. Or Phineas Nigellas being disdainful with Harry. Or... or... or...

And they think for themselves. Dumbledore consults with them. Dilys Derwent discusses going to warn others, she doesn't exactly take orders.

I think of the portraits as being sentient, so also agree that's off.

I fully agree with you Figgy ... they are indeed sentient!
