it is ... thanks for the link; interesting listen But I do understand Lupin's thinking. Hermione isn't afflicted with a curse that could destroy those she cares about; she only deals with "status" prejudice. Big difference. Luna : Snape. I understand what the fella is saying, but their childhood is what separates their way of thinking. Luna was accepted by her parents; Snape was not. The ridicule he suffered as a child was instilled into his DNA/bones. Yes, there is a point in life that (as an adult) we must all choose how we define ourselves and work towards becoming the person we want to be. But it takes tremendous strength of character to work towards "worthy" when starting as "I am nothing". Snape became the best of himself when he devoted himself to revenging Lily's death - it gave him purpose. It also meant that (due to his past treatment) he didn't worry about what anyone else thought of him - he was so used to it, that it was easy to play the double character. |
