It’s going to be a magical Christmas, after all.

J.K. Rowling will release 12 Harry Potter short stories this month in celebration of the 12 days of Christmas, The Telegraph reports. At least one of the stories will reportedly focus on Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy.

The author made the announcement in a newsletter to Harry Potter publishing website Pottermore members on Friday. The installments will be posted online daily beginning on Friday, December 12 at 5 a.m. PT until Christmas Eve.

Pottermore teased “wonderful writing by J.K. Rowling in Moments from ‘Half-Blood Prince,’ shiny gold Galleons and even a new potion or two.”

Gifts galore begin today on pottermore.com

The first of our surprises has arrived; answer our rhyming riddle and transport yourself to a house in Spinner’s End. Look carefully enough and you’ll discover new J.K. Rowling writing, shedding light on the dilapidated town of Cokeworth, once home to Lily Potter and a certain Potions professor.

*Note; Well the first day was exciting.
JKR tells us about the town of Cokeworth. Very interesting tidbits in this little background reading.

*note: I do not know if this is just for the December treats, but if you head to Diagon Alley, it is snowing and there is lots of snow on the streets - kind of cool*

Head to a magical street in today’s festive treat

The colourful, glittering windows of Diagon Alley may be plastered with sombre Ministry posters in Half-Blood Prince but today’s festive surprise takes you to the one place that’s sure to put a smile on your face.

*Note: It is bright, colorful and as you mouse over objects, they twirl, spin and explode.

As you unlock some of the reading material, you are given some great background information about Florean Fortescue and The Leaky Cauldron. Again, some interesting tidbits.

Surprises are stirring on pottermore.com
Exciting things are always brewing in Potions lessons and today is no exception.

Peek into one of Harry’s sixth-year Potions classes to find out how cauldrons almost had a hallowed function in the Harry Potter stories, and why J.K. Rowling chose Potions as Professor Snape’s Hogwarts subject.

Something wicked this way comes…

Wrap up warm for this one, as it’s not just the weather that brings a chill. Solve today’s riddle and watch the snowy scene unfold as Katie Bell encounters the cursed opal necklace in a brand new Moment from Half-Blood Prince.

*note: There is no 'special learning - read about' regarding any of the characters in this moment - but the snowstorm is pretty cool (almost nasty in a way)

Don’t forget to answer our rhyming riddle for yet another treat – revisiting one of Dumbledore’s memories in the Hogwarts Pensieve…
Image
*note: this one got me … I know that answer, but it took several attempts to get the name right*
I was a bit disappointed with the moment, I thought there would be lots of things to collect - boy was I wrong!
