Join the Slug Club at Slughorn’s Christmas party!

Professor Slughorn decorates his office in a riot of colour for his Christmas party. Dust off your dress robes, answer our rhyming riddle and join in the festive Hogwarts spirit in today’s surprise.

*Note: The moment is colorful … as colorful as an Arabian theme. And we get a little history about vampires and JKR's view on them in her Hogwarts world

Rich rewards in the Great Hall

We’d love to join in Wilkie Twycross’s lesson in Half-Blood Prince, if only we weren’t Muggles, but at least we don’t have to worry about Splinching ourselves like Susan Bones… Transport yourself into a brand new Moment for today’s surprise - watch out for any Galleons lying around when you arrive.

*Note: I think this is a seriously cool scene .. there is just something about a room full of apparition newbies that tickles the funny bones.

What will you discover in this mysterious room?

Discover one of Hogwarts’ secrets in today’s festive surprise. Solve our riddle to unearth a treasure trove of forgotten magical objects, from Fanged Frisbees and winged catapults to mislaid books and school trophies.

*Note: Once you get in, watch the fanged Frisbee fly around. They did a good job on the room, lots of objects go bang, fizz etc while you mouse over them.

I should make a small note here ... thanks for the reminder Figgy.
I have amended my posts above with quotes from the Pottermore Insider.

The riddles are a part of the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince chapters. Each riddle must get answered before you are allowed into the moment(s). These (I don't believe) will be going away any time soon. Every day we are getting a new chapter; which is great. I believe it is Pottermore's way of bringing in a 'book' with some daily magic (vs opening a new book all at once). I am positive the chapters - with all the 'read abouts' and 'news from JKR' - will be there for a while.

Just to put everyone straight on the misleading media reports of ‘Twelve New Stories for Christmas’. As true Potter fans worked out straight away, our 12 days of festive surprises and accompanying rhyming riddles refer to new potions and Moments in addition to several new entries by J.K. Rowling that will be posted on pottermore.com between 12th and 23rd December. Sorry to disappoint fans, but there will not be a set of 12 new short stories, one for each day of Christmas. Even Pottermore wouldn't be that generous.

We’re paying tribute to Hogwarts’ beloved Headmaster today
In our final Moment from Half-Blood Prince join students, teachers and magical creatures and say farewell to the beloved Professor Dumbledore in the Moment ‘The Funeral’.

In honour of the much-loved Headmaster, today’s surprise celebrates one of the many achievements of this great man – the Order of Merlin. Discover more about this award’s most prestigious (and some less salubrious) recipients in one more piece of new writing by J.K. Rowling.
