Had to miss the eclipse...darned clouds. Crap. But at least the temps were in the low 60's yesterday! Beautiful! Now, rain then wintry mix later maybe a little snow joining the party. Yippee. And back to cold. Yahoo. At least it's supposed to clear up by tomorrow so the day will be okay. But the rest of the week...crappy, crappy, crappy. *sighs*

My local weather Squib, was wrong as usual! :angry-banghead:
No rain... or clouds.

Was able to watch the eclipse for some time, in crystal clear skies. :P :P :P :P

Rather cool. I think we should have them more often. :happy-bouncygreen: :happy-cheerleadersmileyguy:

What I got to see was nifty!

When it got exactly to full-eclipsed-covered it went behind trees and I didn't get to see it turn back into a moon. I did get to watch much of it in the comfort of my livingroom though.

But its easy to understand why previous generations could have been spooked by it... and how Mark Twains' book could actually work. Most of the eclipses I've seen lasted quite a while, but this one was situated in such a way that the moon's position was very near the "top" of the Earth's shadow, so it only lasted for about 4 minutes here. It was one of the fastest I've ever watched.

There's to be a Solar eclipse visible in North America on August 21, 2017. The path will go kitty-corner from South Carolina to Oregon. http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/path_through_the_US.htm

That 3-4 minute duration, was for the complete eclipse.
The partial portion lasted for hours. :happy-bouncygreen:
