I like The Burrow and Luna's House, so mine would be in a rural setting, and be piled up higgledy-piggledy. (I really liked that trailer pic I sent you guys. It reminded me of both of these places.) I also loved the tent at the World Cup.

I'd have a player piano with a remote so I could turn it on with a wand.
Russian Fireplaces - both for Floo Powder and for warmth/the light/atmosphere.
External doors that the top half goes up or opens out and up. (The bottom should swing, though, so that snow stays outside and can't impact it closing in bad weather).
And glass doors up high that open. but go nowhere/don't have a balcony or deck.
Working shutters on windows...painted different colours.
More curves in the floorplan than angles.
A greenhouse conservatory glass room(s).
Lots of cubbies, closets, little nooks and crannies - more places to put stuff than I have stuff...
Some beds in recessed cabinets with doors that can close when not in use, maybe even Murphy beds.
Bathrooms with multiple faucets, some of which bring bubbles and/or color (I just saw a showerhead thingy advertised on TV with LED lights configured in such a way so that the water changes colour)
and quirky handles, but only a big enamel clawfoot tub, not a whole room sized one. (Solar heated water, of course.)

I would want my place some place coastal or near the mountains. There must be water near by - be it ocean or large lake or river - it does not matter.

I want running water, electricity and high speed internet. (aka, the toilets have to flush - even Hogwarts had plumbing)

And the techno-geek would be superior. I would like voice command appliances and doors/windows, etc. The commands would be all HP related. The security would have "mad-eyes" all around and if there were trespassers, a Caterwauling Charm would sound off.

There would be "hp house" themed bedrooms. Each theme room would have the appropriate colors. On the walls would be items specific to the houses; such as - the gryffindor room would have a life sized peel & stick-on picture of Godric Gryffindor, a replica of his sword hanging on the wall. The room would say ... yes, the brave live in this room. There would be a fireplace in each room with floo powder on the mantel. I haven't decided about the light fixtures yet. Each room would have it own themed bathroom.

there would be cases of butter beer, pumpkin juice and maybe some elf-made wine in the cold room.
there would be a library; there would be a swimming pool (aka prefects bath); there would be a movie room (aka trophy room)

there would be a forest nearby for the critters.

each item in the home would be carefully thought out and redesigned so that it would fit in a magical environment - a hand of glory that will grasp your hand if you touch it; a necklace that will shock you if you touch it; herbed and liquid items in the kitchen would all be in 'potion' looking bottles and labeled accordingly; a mirror that speaks quotes when you get close to it; cauldrons in the kitchen; ... the list could go on and on. Maybe I could get some of the special effects people from the movie to help me.

the doors would probably look gothic.
there would be parchment paper and quills throughout the house

I want a water feature in the livingroom or one of the glass rooms. It would be like a stream trickling down some stones (with subtle shelves so a plant or many could be scattered along it) into a pool (where my fishies would live).

A narrow ledge would run around some of the rooms a foot or two below the ceiling, with tunnels cut through between rooms, and model trains would run on them.

Secret passages squirreled away around the place.

Floor-to-ceiling book shelves in quite a few rooms. Some bookcases are doors that pivot. Including occasional floating islands that would come down from the ceiling when you want to look through those books, then go back up out of the way when you're done.

A staircase or two that have a flat/floor over them until you wish to use them, then the floor relaxes down into steps, raising back up to be solid floor again once the hidden doo-dah (that's a technical term) is activated.

The sorts of shelving they put into kitchen cabinets for wheelchair-bound, where you open the door then pull out and down and the shelves with their contents come to you somewhat like the stairs mentioned above.

How about holographic projectors, so there will be actual translucent ghosts drifting around.

nooks, crannies ... and all sorts of secret passageways hidden in plain sight.
crown molding with secret cubby holes; office desk with secret compartments; etc

An Astronomy Tower, of course.

Oooh! Holographic projections of walls, or no floor, or a door (that I could walk through/out onto "nothing"/watch others grab air when they reach for the doorknob)! Or to make the ceiling look like the sky outside, like the Great Hall's!

Definitely a tower or two.

A kitchen that looks like the 1920s, but works more modern and efficiently. With a sink with at least three wells/basins. Lots of windows to let in lots of light (Thrombe wall?).

A gnarled tree resembling the whomping willow.
A Hagrid's Hut for the full time gardener
A shrieking shack as the garage.
