Not really. Dobby only has so much area available to store his personal possessions (even using the House Elf equivalent of "Wizard Space") so Harry took Dobby along on the shopping trip and just got him the ones he most wanted. It came out to around thirty socks; the orange and purple argyle one was his favourite.
