Thought we were going to escape the winds, but then this afternoon, they really took off.
Still warm, and sort of clear.

... Strong west winds and high fire danger to continue rest of this
afternoon...

Strong west to northwest winds will remain in the 20 to 30 mph
range... with gusts over 40 mph at times for the rest of the
afternoon. These winds will combine with low relative humidity
values to continue to produce a heightened fire danger across the
region this afternoon and evening. The fire danger will be for
mainly agricultural fields with dry... unharvested crops. In these
windy dry conditions any fire will be able to grow and spread
rapidly. Therefore... any outdoor burning should be discouraged and
postponed to another day. These brisk winds will also produce
blowing dust and briefly reduced visibilities off of recently
harvested fields. Look for these winds to subside some after
sunset.

Those driving high profile vehicles should be prepared for these
brisk winds and drive with extra caution... especially on north to
south oriented roads.

Cloudy all day yesterday but beautiful and warm today...actually opened my windows! Howler...I still have to tell my kids to bring containers for leftovers because I got tired of hunting down my dishes to get them returned. lol. One year - what didn't get wrapped in foil - I used sandwich bags for some of the leftovers for them to take home...amazing how much you can really stuff into baggies and still have them close. lol!

lol - yup, I will use baggies too. Darned kids never seem to remember to bring back containers for refills. Which is really odd ... it's like forgetting to take a container with you when out trick or treating.


Our winds got up to 93 km/hr yesterday. yowza!

Nope. I almost never lose power. My flashlight batteries end up dying of old age, not usage.*
Luckily, it wasn't as windy as predicted.







*Though I have a huge stockpile of rechargeable batteries, There are always enough primaries in reserve.
Plus, if need be, I have chargers that can be powered from the truck, as well as a solar powered charger.

Cloudy this morning, rain this afternoon. Supposed to be nice tomorrow and Thursday then rain sometime Friday. Trees are finally turning colors tho some aren't as vibrant as others...not enough rain. Bummer for the foliage.

Hope your power is back on. Guess Paint is our resident flashlight and battery expert.

well - I was wrong; our winds on Sunday were clocked at 119 km/hr.
lots of tree damage; someone's barn roof was blown off; empty grain/fertilizer bins were blown over; a downed tree landed on someone's vehicle, a couple semi's were blown over; a truck hauling a vacation trailer was flipped ... etc, etc, etc.

the good news ... no trains were blown over.
