Supposed to be nice here, near 60 Wednesday, 40s by the end of the week. Might get a little snow/rain but that's it. Nothing major for my neck of the woods. Works for me.

Unseasonable warm this week. Hope to finally get the truck washed.

Very Spring-y here at the moment. Its more like the beginning of May than March.

Son got hit in the eye with a piece of kindling he was chopping, so we did a mad dash to the ER in ski country (closer than Denver and nicer people). Right now there should be twelve-to-twenty-feet-tall piles of snow lining all the roads on that side of the Divide, but the snow was so sparse you could easily see over, and dirt around, what piles were there. We've gone from a good healthy snow-pack to something that looks pathetic. [The last time we had an El Nino year with this sort of configuration, we made up the deficit in one major dump of a storm, so it isn't time to panic just yet.]

So is son alright? Did you stop on the way home, and pick up a pair of safety goggles?

Oh, he HAS safety goggles, but wasn't wearing them, and he knows proper procedures ...

It was one of those situations where he was "just going to step outside for a minute" to whack a couple scruffy branch-bits into a handful of kindling... which would only take a couple minutes... and wasn't worth going to the trouble of grabbing gloves and goggles... and, and, and...

He got a major abrasion directly across the pupil, but ER docs said it should heal fine and told him to go see an ophthalmologist Monday just to be safe. They put some lidocaine and antibiotic drops in while we were there, looked to make sure there weren't any splinters or crud still in his eye, then sent him home with Rxs for more antibiotic drops, and pain pills (because they aren't allowed to send lidocaine home with peasants).

My goodness! Sure hope you son's eye heals Figgy!
(funny how hindsight is always the sharpest - and keeps ER so very busy all the time)

So much for nice weather...cloudy, snowed most of the day but nothing accumulating, just a coating on lawns. Roads were just wet on the way home. Supposed to be nice tomorrow in the 40s, 50's on Wednesday. We'll see.

Figgy...next time he decides to cut a little wood, remind him to get his goggles. Hope his eye is okay.

I made all the "better than a poke in the eye" jokes on the way to the ER. He's probably wearing safety glasses everywhere but in the shower....
