It's on my to-do list. But I don't think they have them in the winter.

Has hubby considered the outback? :flags-australia:

not sure ... lol I think it is one of the few places he hasn't been, so if given the opportunity, he would likely go. (He traveled lots when he was young-has seen many countries - not like me, who has been only a few places)

I was suppose to go with a group of friends this year to Alaska, but by the sounds of it, it did not get planned. Last I heard was they were disagreeing on how to get there - two wanted to drive there, and two wanted to go by ship. I never heard back from them.

I want to go on one of the smaller ships; the ones that will get closer to the icebergs/marine life & shores. And once there, go bear viewing in Katmai National Park; find a great spot where I can photograph bald eagles; etc, etc etc ... not asking for much; may have to do this when I retire but I don't want to wait that long! (plus, I will likely be too stinking old to enjoy it if I wait that long)

Now-now, Howler. Don't be so down on yourself! I'm sure with the proper personal hygiene, when you're too old the travel, you will smell as fresh as a Spring morning. :angelic-halofell:

I'm thinking that's why Howler spent all that money on telephoto lenses. :handgestures-thumbupright:

lol. I think it would be a great trip no matter how old you are. I wouldn't mind. Like Howler's idea...smaller ship, closer for pics. Luckily the TS missed us for the most part. Decent weather last week, supposed to have quite a bit of rain this week but we need it. And the muggies are showing up more and more. Still have all those damned mosquitos and black flies. blah!

lol - for the bear shots I want, I think one has to be flown in and then hike to a viewing deck. Honestly, I hope I am never so close to one that I am in harms way ... lol ... then again, I would likely pee myself and the bear would run away from the smell (one would hope, anyway)

looks like it is going to be sunny with warm temps all week. - well, maybe one day with a chance of rain.

Little drier today, but still warm. Breezy, so in the shade it's nice.

Try Cedarcide. Its basically juice from red cedars (smells like a closet or cedar chest, so not at all unpleasant) and is safe enough to wipe on cats & dogs to keep fleas and ticks away. It works great on mites, too. We had an infestation after they put the new roof on stirred up a hundred years of crud and critters in the eaves. We were all itchy with red welts, and went to doctors thinking it was an allergy - the useless AMA-types did cortisone Rxs, which did nothing. Finally found a blog that said, "its mites, get some Cedarcide", of which one quick wipe on skin and everything was fixed (after months of misery). It does in ants the second it touches them. Its magic stuff!!!

We used to put bergamot flowers over our ears (like a Polynesian princess) to keep flying bugs away from our faces, and that worked nicely, too. They are weeds in Pennsylvania and Virginia, not sure if they grow wild farther north.

On topic ~

It summertime here. Balmy, almost too hot, afternoon showers occasionally. 'Straight out of the Chamber of Commerce brochures.....

cedarcide works on ants? I will need to see if we can get this up here! Thanks Figgy!

sunny morning ... just discovered that a robin has been nesting in the ladder that is hanging from our fence. She is the proud momma of 3 or 4 babies. Will try to get photos (without disturbing momma or babies) ... like to leave nature as it is.
