lol - I know! just hoping I don't hate myself after I am done reading it.
It could be the final let down so I am nervous; I think that is why I am delaying it

Completed reading the Play/book. And yes, it is a play, and rather reads like a play. It is fairly easy to read; it covers the emotional and physical impacts of family relationships; it contains magical elements; and it was too short.

One thing for sure is they must have the world's greatest special effects masters involved in the play - or some amazing CGI technology involved. The play has magic. I cannot even imagine how the 'bookcase' scene was created, but it had to involve some very special behind the scene wizardry.

The Play was ok - it is not the worst of her literary achievements that is for sure. Moreover, I can't help but think that if JKR had put a tad more effort and time into a REAL book, it would have made for a very interesting read indeed.

The main characters are Albus (son of Harry) and Scorpius (son of Draco).

The emotional part of the play itself tends towards father/son/family relationships (good & bad) and how fragile both children and parents can be emotionally even when we think we are doing the right things.

The physical story of the play takes us into magical areas of the effects of our actions - and the repercussions/ripples of events that can follow. I do not want to give any of the story away (on the slight chance that someone else may read it) but I would like to mention that there is an illegal prototype time-turner and a particular child of - shall we say - "interest".

It was, of course, way too short of a read (it is a play after all). This, of course, is just my opinion. It is not a book that I would covet and reread 50 times like the original 7 HP books, but I can't help but think that it could have been. And like I said above - had she taken the time to put some effort into a real 8th book, it may have been 1500 pages worth of great (maybe).

Thanks for the review. :handgestures-thumbupright: Think I'll skip it until I can see the play, or it's converted into a novelette.

Yes - I am certainly curious how the play is achieved with the special effects that would be required.

And I guess if I could sum up the play, it would be like ... making one 2-hr movie combining the first 5 HP books. You just know that there is a lot more missing; and a lot more that could be there.
