Very few people at Azkaban carry wands, whereas just about everyone at Hogwarts carries a wand. Wands act to focus and concentrate energy, plus there is a magnifying/multiplying effect on their magic from having so many in close proximity at Hogwarts. This draws and energizes the dementors, to the point of overwhelming the less-magical witches and wizards (as Sirius is)..


Where do wizards go to get a new robe?

Their closets of course. In the magical world, all closets are magical - once an article of clothing is placed into a closet, it will magically repair, hem, lengthen, etc as needed for the witch or wizard.
