You two are a hoot! Windows stay so closed in the winter at my house but as soon as the temps stay well out of cold temps, I open the windows. Trains at night are a menace...who in the hell is out at 2 in the morning so the conductor has to blare the damned horn and keep blaring it?! Birds aren't a problem...the little gray squirrel that decided to start making really loud noises around 5:15 in the morning this past weekend is. Wishing he'd go find another tree in someone else's yard.

Rained steadily all night. Nothing real heavy. Hopefully most soaked in.

Moo: The conductor doesn't blow the horn, in fact they rarely even wake. The locomotives are quipped with event recorders.
If the bell & horn aren't used for the amount or time deemed necessary, the engineer can be disciplined. Or if an accident occurs, he/she can be criminally charged.
Believe me, it's no treat to be blowing the horn all the time!
The state of Iowa requires using the horn at every crossing! This includes residential driveways and boat ramps.
