'Wish it wasn't on a channel that costs a ton of money, it should be somewhere we can all watch easily...
And I wish there wasn't rabid "cancel culture" trying to do in JKR.

An update from Harry Potter Folklore on YouTube.

I have a bit of a problem about him saying all anyone would have to do is sign up/pay for a VPN and then subscribe to HBO, because HBO is a "premium channel" in larger packages of cable tv services. You can't sign up JUST for HBO. There might be some sort of free trial for the service/cable provider for a few days, but getting involved with that would get fairly complicated. The VPN allows you to claim you are from the country/area that you want to watch the programming of, but to sign up for the additional viewing service will mean you'd have to claim an actual real-world address in that area along with filling out billing info. Some folks are devious enough to pull it off, but most aren't.

Then he mentions two other ways to see it, but says those ways are also subscription, so same problem, just now in Europe instead of North America. Hopefully, the ones he mentions are better about not trapping people into contracts and such than the ones in the USA.

I "cut the cord" on cable TV in 2016 because those cable providers charge stupid amounts each month and have lousy customer service. They were bumping up their monthly fees by five bucks every few months and it was getting close to $80 per month (was closer to $50 three years prior, which is still an outrageous amount) when I finally just quit cable altogether.

New Year's Day is a mere week away, so whatever any of us are going to do, it needs to be soon. I wonder if there might be access via YouTube. Sometimes they finagle things around so that shows and events can be watched via them - but I haven't yet heard or seen anything about the Potter Reunion being shown there.

There are some interesting questions in that quiz. I wouldn't mind it so much if they kept it all to the seven HP stories, but when they delve into that weird play she wrote, it really is quite unacceptable (at least for me it is). I don't remember any of the books indicating what wand Hermione had; Gamps bad tasting beer ... where on earth do we learn of this; the house Allbus Potter was sorted into ... really? And one that really threw me was Quirrell's house.

Not sure what to do about the HBO. I am wondering why this is only broadcasted in the USA since it originates in England. I guess because the moves were produced by an American company? No idea if us in Canada will even have access to it, even if I do subscribe to a TV service (online). Like you, I severed links with cable/dish tv services. My hubby watched a lot of tv, but once he passed, I could not justify $150/month charges - especially when I only watched less than an hour a week (except for July when I watched the Calgary Stampede ... hahaha... then it was 2+ hours a day)

I just checked out Crave TV.
the special is being broadcasted at 7:30 - 9:00 on January 1. I am able to sign up and get a 7-day free trial. If I sign up on Wednesday, I will be able to watch it, then cancel the trial. Yay (well, only if I remember to do it-been a tad forgetful lately). The thought of Allan Rickman not being a part of this saddens me.

They want a ".ca" addy to "log in". Thanks for the thought, though.

However!!!

There is a free tv online service called "watchseriesstream.com" that will allow us to watch it!!!
(Another case of borders, not sure if it will show for Tonks and/or Howler, but Moo can see it on this site for sure. If one of you tries it, let me know, K?)

I watch quite a few things at this site, and it has it! I did a search on their site for it, not expecting it to be there, but this is the direct link that worked for me -

So here it is, my full breakdown of the Harry Potter reunion special.

I am so very happy that you were able to watch it Figgy!!
I really liked the use of magical letters at the beginning (for Emma, Robbie, and Matthew) ... that was awesome.

I never knew how close Emma and Tom were. It was great that she had a friend on set (and a crush)
Robbie didn't look too good ... is it just me seeing things?
One of the twins cracked Mike's ribs while he was teaching them to 'fight' ...
Helena is just as crazy off screen as she is on screen

the last day of shooting ... so very emotional for everyone!

can't believe how many people who were a part of the series have died - so many!

I had the same feeling about Robbie Coltrane. He didn't look healthy at all.

And agree with everything you've said above. (I liked how Matthew Lewis's letter was just there. Cool.)
