Ditto Howler on the asters! Just imaging the colors! Nice!

Yup, we pretty much melted this past week. Temps either side of 90 during the day, mid to upper 60s at night. Oh, don't forget to add hazy and humid and wildfire smoke. ugh! Not much rain but we did have an interesting lightening display a couple of nights ago. All due to the heat and humidity. It was an awesome sight as we don't get those much here. Only once did we get a quick storm out of it, just enough to wet things. Supposed to be more seasonable this week, with rain.

Keeping an eye on Hurricane Lee. Looks like it might miss us now but still give us quite a bit of rain as a possible Cat 1 or a strong tropical depression. Only good thing...I'll be teleworking and won't have to drive in it. Have plenty of supplies so I'm good there. Now I wait to see what happens.

did Lee hit your area Moo? any damage? (so glad you were stocked up and prepared for it!)
I think it is currently in Atlantic Canada
(sorry, haven't had much time to watch news lately ... the insanity of work this month)

And the wind will knock all the acorns loose! You win!

We hit 29F/-1.6C overnight two days ago... *not amused*

Hey Ladies! Lee was a wicked tropical storm by the time it found us. Made landfall in Washington County (farthest eastern county in Maine) and Nova Scotia. No damage, lots of leaves and twigs, few small branches and that's it. Power outages were sporadic, which is weird. Lots of rain and wind but I didn't lose power. Was really surprised. Expected the power to go out but really glad it didn't. A lot of places around us did but a lot of us had power. A lot of Maine did have some trees uprooted, trees falling on power lines, flooding, the stuff you expect. Could have definitely been worse.

This past week, chilly in the mornings, not too bad during the day but the damned wild fire smoke is driving us nuts! Filtered out the sunshine we were supposed to get. oy! My sinuses have been so stuffed up because of all the smoke. Folks thought I was sick! Nope. Just smoke allergies having a blast. ugh! Supposed to be better this week so we'll see.

Well, Felipe dropped about 3" of rain on us last night into early this morning. Luckily the winds weren't nearly as bad as when Lee found us. Only about 39 mph. Downpoured big time, though! See quite a few leaves on the road but haven't been out and about. Supposed to be more seasonal this week - mid 60s during the day, 40s at night, a little rain sometime Tuesday and that should be it. Works for me.

between Sep 27 & Oct 2 we got 2" of rain (hooray!!). A little too late, but welcome none the less.
My struggling flowers perked up and bloomed like crazy ... then a couple days later we got a killing frost (-5°C - 23°F)
so very depressing!
The blessing in this is that it rained first (before the frost) and I got to enjoy the flowers for a few days; would have been devastating if it was the other way around. I really would have loved to enjoy them for another week though (sigh)

Sept 26 we had a high of 31°C (88°F); then this weekend we hit highs of 24°C (75°F)
Sept was certainly a nice month weather wise; up and down temps, but mostly very nice (such a pity I was stuck at work)
temps are going back to seasonal avg later this week

smoke is nasty ... always. Hope it clears soon Moo. And with all the moisture you have had, it should go away quickly (fingers crossed)

So far, no more forest fire smoke. Raining since yesterday, supposed to clear out by early tomorrow morning. And with the leaves falling off the trees, have to be careful not to slide because of wet leaves. Guess it's ice practice for later. lol. Temps haven't been much better than the weather...50s. Had a some days that were in the 60s - heatwave! lol.

:angry-banghead: Yeah, Denver's weather report last Monday lost ten degrees F. per day until the weekend when its supposed to s**w. There are lots of trees, that because its been so warm thus far, still have leaves (that in another year would have been gone weeks ago).

You will note the enthusiasm with which I write this...

white crap fell several times during the week; temps plummeted.
we went from highs of 16-22C (61-72F) to highs of -1 to -6C (30-22F) and lows up to -13C (8F)

we typically get an early snowfall between end of Sept and the first 10 days of Oct - then we often got what we call Indian Summer - lovely temps that lasted until the mid to late Nov (and occasionally into mid Dec) . The last couple years it has waited until end of Oct or first few days in Nov and then winter set in for the next 5-6 months. :crying-blue:

More white crap expected later this week and into next week.
