An update from
Harry Potter Folklore on YouTube.
I have a bit of a problem about him saying all anyone would have to do is sign up/pay for a VPN and then subscribe to HBO, because HBO is a "premium channel" in larger packages of cable tv services. You can't sign up JUST for HBO. There might be some sort of free trial for the service/cable provider for a few days, but getting involved with that would get fairly complicated. The VPN allows you to claim you are from the country/area that you want to watch the programming of, but to sign up for the additional viewing service will mean you'd have to claim an actual real-world address in that area along with filling out billing info. Some folks are devious enough to pull it off, but most aren't.
Then he mentions two other ways to see it, but says those ways are also subscription, so same problem, just now in Europe instead of North America. Hopefully, the ones he mentions are better about not trapping people into contracts and such than the ones in the USA.
I "cut the cord" on cable TV in 2016 because those cable providers charge stupid amounts each month and have lousy customer service. They were bumping up their monthly fees by five bucks every few months and it was getting close to $80 per month (was closer to $50 three years prior, which is still an outrageous amount) when I finally just quit cable altogether.
New Year's Day is a mere week away, so whatever any of us are going to do, it needs to be soon. I wonder if there might be access via YouTube. Sometimes they finagle things around so that shows and events can be watched via them - but I haven't yet heard or seen anything about the Potter Reunion being shown there.
