Your winds showed up early this morning, Figgy. Gusting to around 40mph (64kph)
Started to snow about 13:30CST (19:30UTC)
Not all that much snow, but with the wind, close to white-out conditions.
Was a real treat driving home from work...

See! Just shows you should be heading this way for the party when Howler blows this far south.

(We had big/many-mile sections of I-70 closed because of same sideways snowing and the delightful layer of ice coating everything under it.)

It is very beautiful and quiet. Magical flocked trees and muted muffled sounds (except for the jingle of tire chains on the semis on I-70....).

Beginning later this afternoon, another 4-9 inches of Figgy-friendly fluffy white stuff expected.
Well actually, this may be more of the heavy wet type.

Update: The snow won't be here until later this evening. 6-10" are called for now.

Not much going on here - in the 30's during the day. A little crappy weather tonight but clearing out by 10:00 tomorrow morning. Supposed to be getting moderate snow Wednesday but at this point...wait and see. We're way overdue for a major snow storm. Stay safe, folks.

It is Groundhogs Day ...
according to the Canadian Press, these are the results:

WIARTON, Ont. -- It's Groundhog Day, and the long range forecast is in from Canada's woodchuck weathermen.

Ontario's Wiarton Willie emerged from his cozy den this morning and immediately spotted his shadow, which according to groundhog folklore means Canadians can expect six more weeks of what has already been a long, cold, snowy winter.

A little earlier Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam waddled out into the morning light, but unlike Willie, he did not see his shadow -- indicating warmer days are just ahead.

As for America's rodent royalty, Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil -- the most famous groundhog of them all -- he did see his shadow this morning, heralding another month and a half of Old Man winter.

Balzac Billy from Alberta predicts an early spring

However, regardless of what the groundhogs may be trying to tell us, Environment Canada is predicting the frigid temperatures that have gripped much of the country for the past two months will likely persist right through February.
..............

and if you so desire ... a chance to check out all the Woodchuck's at this link

Not quite as much snow fell as expected. However, it seems all the plow drivers have the weekend off.

Howler, please send groundhogs with shovels. :occasion-snowman:

Bright and sunny here today, though a bit nippy.
