It is ok with Elm trees.
Many others, no, but Elm trees (very much so) yes!

Ours back east got Dutch Elm Disease through the 1920s on, and are gone.

I only ever saw one live one; it was in Virginia. A storm dropped a fair-sized limb, which I cut up and split for firewood - and was amazed at how difficult it was to split, as though it had grain growing both directions.

It is the pods in the springtime that are the nasty part!
I literally have to shovel them (like a snow drift) in my yard every spring.
The pods have choked out nearly all my flower beds and because she never trims her trees (and they are inches away from our property) the branches scratch our vehicles.

anyway ... paint says it is suppose to rain tomorrow here. I'm hoping not.

Two words : Leaf Blower. Foof the stuff back into her yard.

Here, if someone has a nuisance tree limb over onto your property you have to have tried to discuss things with the owner, but if they don't deal with it, you're allowed to cut the stuff that's on your side of the fence. Can you do any trimming? (Also, if a tree tips over in a storm the owner is responsible for any damage it does, is it that way where you are? Maybe you could get some action talking about it scraping or dripping on your car.)

I have a bit of a bad attitude I'm afraid (when it comes to those trees). I should not have to pay someone or use my time/energy/equipment to trim other people's trees. I spoke with her a few years ago. She cut down the trees that were at the driveway, but never killed the stumps. Well, after two years those bastard trees are near full size again. We sold the one vehicle, but if those branches scrape hubby's new truck, there will likely be hell to pay.

:laughing-rolling: well, it would be a considerable effort, but if he managed it, the *cough* butt would be very, very sore! Good thing the cast is off :D
