Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 3:32 PM EST on January 31, 2015

...Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 9 PM CST /10 PM EST/ this evening to 6 am CST /7 am EST/ Monday...
* timing...accumulating snow will begin this evening and continue through Sunday night. Precipitation will likely start as rain or a rain snow mix...especially the farther south you go from Interstate 80.
* Snow accumulations...widespread amounts of 10 to 14 inches are expected by Sunday night.
* Main impact...snow covered roads will make travel difficult. Significant disruptions to air travel are also likely.
* Other impacts...strong northeast winds with gusts possibly in excess of 35 mph will develop Sunday afternoon and continue into Sunday evening...and are likely to be higher near the lake. This will produce significant blowing and drifting snow and blizzard like conditions.

Winds have finally seemed to calm down so now we've got the ever popular radiational cooling. Yippee. At least the stuff we're getting Monday is supposed to be all fluff. Easy to get out of the driveway but enough is enough for my neck of the woods.

The weather guy says that our storm is the result of two systems converging from the northwest and the Colorado area.

Seems that Figgy & Howler have gotten their wands aligned to send me a wintry gift.

...Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 2 PM CST this afternoon... ...Blizzard Warning in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to midnight CST tonight...

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning...which is in effect from 2 PM this afternoon to midnight CST tonight. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 2 PM CST.
* Timing...snow...heavy at times...will continue until early evening. Blizzard conditions will develop late this afternoon and continue this evening...especially in more open areas.
* Winds/visibility...northeast winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph this afternoon. The combination of falling and blowing snow will frequently reduce visibilities to near zero with white out conditions late this afternoon and evening.
* Snow accumulations...10 to 15 inches...with isolated totals up to 18 inches possible.
* Main impact...snow covered roads will make travel difficult. By afternoon...the combination of the snow and very strong winds will make travel extraordinarily dangerous.
