Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Strong wind gusts exceeding 90km/h are expected later this afternoon
into the early evening hours as a cold front pushes through the
region. Accompanying the passage of the front will be showers
changing to flurries. The flurry activity may be intense at times
and result in reduced visibility due to the combination of heavy
snow and strong winds.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may
occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or
damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing Road
conditions due to high winds. Avoid wooded areas to prevent injury
from falling trees or branches. Campers should move to sturdy
shelters.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
Please continue to monitor your local media or weatheradio for
further updates.

We're supposed to be getting bumped by the elbow of that same system. The week on both sides of today and Friday are glorious Spring days, but 'sposta get 3" of wet sloppy snow overnight.

What a horrible, nasty, crappy drive to work yesterday ... roads were so icy that the truckers were unable to make it up any hills. They were lined up wall-to-wall at one section of the highway, and on straight stretches, they were travelling approx. 30-50 km/hr (18-30 mi/hr). (and not a sanding truck in sight!!!) And it never ceases to amaze me how many idiots on the road driving normal speeds - unbelievable! I was ever so happy that it warmed up during the day and most of the ice melted off the roads.

Maybe the sand trucks were blocked by all the stalled trucks.

That's the problem!!!
Too many trucks - not enough trains. :P
