We're pretty hard-core Winter Olympics fans in this house. There are a couple channels that one needs to pay extra for that have carried some events we didn't see, but other than those its been about 85% of the TV usage for the past couple weeks. I haven't been to bed before 7 am since they started. Because of the time difference the live feed started here around two or three am, and you get to see so much more than the edited version shown on NBC in the evenings.

The US Channels are FINALLY carrying the Curling! Last couple Olympics they only carried the finals, if that.

I would love it if the Olympic Committee made certain they were giving the Olympics to a place that absolutely has snow..... I just have a huge problem that there are palm trees about forty miles from the event sites and how sucky the snow has been... and the rain...

That and that Bode didn't place better, he's a good guy.

you are lucky. I have only about an hour a day that I am able to watch, and thus can only watch what is on at the time it is re-broadcasted. I was so hoping our speed skater Charles Hamelin would have done better. He started off with a gold, then literally went down hill from there ... after that, he kept falling and didn't qualify.

no matter ... it is just fun to watch athletes from around the world compete and have a great time together.

yup - palm trees and snow aren't something you see together every day ... lol

A fellow at work took his family on vacation last week to Universal Orlando and indeed took his children to the Hogwarts park. His boys have read all the books, but the dad hasn't - he has only watched the movies and says he really enjoyed all of them. (I doubt he would have liked the movies as much if he had taken the time to read the books).

He did not get any pictures of the Hogwarts train (don't think it is operational until this summer) or Kings Cross but he did get to spend some time in the castle, go on some rides and snap some interesting photos. He has one picture of a HUGE barrel of butterbeer. And yes, the family tasted it. And pumpkin juice - he loved the pumpkin juice.

He has a lot of photos from his entire trip, and sadly, only a few were from Hogwarts. He has a few pics of the castle - which he said was awesome. One of the entrances is the same as where the first years arrive ... but sadly enough, he did not cross a lake by boat to get there ... oh well, guess they can't have everything. He was amazed at how real the snow covered roofs looked at Hogsmeade. His family loved their trip!

We don't do winter olympics in South Africa... we have sunny skies and beautiful weather (even our winters are mild compared to the north)...

But hey... Soccer World Cup this year!!

oh wow, Howler.... thats one more place for me to go when I visit the US.

PS. How is your friend... the one i met when she came down to SA?

neither one of us work at the same place anymore.
I quit well over a year ago and found employment elsewhere; and I think she left the company a few months ago. I do not know where she works now.
but if you see her (and you will likely see her before I do) say hello :D

I saw my snowy owl at work yesterday. Perched atop a repeater tower. Wonder how much there is to eat with all the red-tail and coopers hawks in the area. :happy-bouncycyan:
