My mother was also the cook and host. And if anyone showed up, they were more than welcome to join us. We always had plenty. I find I do the same thing even now. Do most of the prep work the day before, up early to get everything started, and doesn't matter who shows up...always have plenty. Howler - hope your weather doesn't get too gloomy for your dinner.

Beautiful and a bit chilly yesterday - walked to the post office and the credit union; cloudy so far today and going nowhere. Lazy b**ch day.

Same here Moo. I tend to think I cook for 20 all the time; if anyone shows up, there is plenty to share!

LOL - the kids now bring 'left over' containers. I sure don't want all that food to go to waste in my fridge.

holy crap - nasty, high winds!!!!

On the bright side, when it isn't raining you can open the windows so the smoke detector doesn't continually go off.

Sad indeed... Some of us enjoy food well cooked.

People like me take the pressure off the cook.
If it's underdone, just pop it back in the oven...
If it's overdone, save the crispy ends for me.

Yum!

Think the biggest problem, is folks walking by and picking at the resting food. :angelic-halofell:

oh please don't talk about winds. Holy crap what a day we had yesterday.
I am surprised the high winds didn't blow over vehicles.
Company had to hang on to each other just to get to their vehicles ... and watch those doors!
and then the rain came ... I am so very thankful I still have a house, with a roof and shingles still attached!

I am most thankful for my gas stove though ... because the power went out for a long time - and my dinner just kept cooking away. yay!
