Had a very busy holiday! Was only able to reheat a few leftovers last night before bed. Even missed all the drunk relatives energetically (louder than the children, I'm told) discussing politics and religion*. Was told they wouldn't even stop for the football games. :o

Not in any order.
Burned a house outside of town. One each, dog & cat fatality. Damage to neighboring house.
47 yo woman burned to death (smoking, fell asleep) in a house trailer.
County squad car got T-Boned on highway west of town.
Oven fire in town.
Assisted little all volunteer Dept. with two hog houses on fire. Plenty of baked ham.
Three medical assist calls.

Went to bed early last night, slept very well. :sleeping-blue:

* I mean, really?!? Those two subjects! On a holiday? :teasing-dunce:

*it is the reason I seldom associate with a lot of my relatives (was no place to hide as a child, but as an adult some things are just no longer tolerated)

Well - with all that baked ham, who needs turkey

there goes your reputation as 'good sleep night at the FD' Paint

Not so fast, young Howler. :teasing-neener:

These calls encompassed both Thursday & Friday.
We were back in the Station and cleaned up by 19:30. (Though there were a couple of calls that were handled by neighboring Depts. while we were at the house fire, on Thursday.

All had a good nights sleep. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Good Housekeeping is saying something along the lines of what Paint said ~

Quote:
From hanging lights on ladders to taking roast out of the oven, making merry can prove hazardous. In fact, the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that an average of 15,000 Americans visit hospital emergency rooms each November and December from holiday-related decorating accidents. To top it off, dried Christmas trees spark hundreds of fires, an average of 17 deaths, and $13 million in property damage annually.

So, with that in mind ~ ~ Happy Holidays all!

Some would consider it culling the herd.

Why do I always get the 7th and 10th mixed up?
Happy Pearl Harbor Day!

Next year will be the 75th...

As that generation dies out it seems like people aren't as shocked at the losses and repercussions, or take it as seriously. I wonder if the "nuclear option" would have come about had 2400 lives not been lost in a less-than-honourable way.
