So.... now that you know, what are you going to do about it? (Besides talk.)

she gave me her email addy. She's going to contact me when she plans her HP travels and see if I want to join her (her hubby isn't an HP fan). She was hoping that the HP play would come to Toronto or New York; or travel a few other places. She is lovely young lady.

Its just SO NICE to chat with someone and not have to explain, for example, what a wrackspurt is. You'll have to make her one of you famous HP cards!!!

The grandkids have gotten to stay overnight with me for the last three days.

Today we did up Fourth of July to the nines. We watched the parade, waved to all the fire department people, kiddos got far too much candy that was tossed by various groups/cars, they got to pet the same burro from last month but its owner was dressed as a mountain man today, saw real bands, got our hearing damaged by sirens on the emergency vehicles showing off, and generally had a fine old time.

Next we walked to the park. At the park the lines were too long at the BBQ, so we went to the DuckRace booth instead, entered a rubberduck in the race (which won't happen until Labour Day) and bought a couple to bring home (proceeds benefit the historical society). Next got something to drink (proceeds to a boy scout troop), and wandered around looking at all the other booths/tents/tables, spending far too much time petting dogs at the Clear Creek Animal Rescue one. All the while a cowboy band played sing-a-long songs and John Phillip Sousa marches in the gazebo. Since it is the best park ever for kids, they also played with tons of kids in the castle/fort, slides, and so forth.

The cowboy band in the gazebo in the park was fun, we seemed to keep missing the live music downtown though. But, we did go to the book sale in the basement of the library. Then went home and hung out for the few hours until fireworks time (and ate a reasonably good dinner to make up for all the candy and junk food).

Around eight pm we headed for the fireworks at the lake a mile away. It is about the perfect spot to spend the evening of the Fourth of July. There were hundreds of people there but enough room that it didn't seem crowded at all. Everyone was there for a nice time, so minimal presence of drunken or disorderly types, lots of families, lots of the sorts of fireworks regular people can buy, being set off and shared. It was a very pleasant temperature, lovely evening. The fireworks themselves actually lasted about twice as long as I'd anticipated, with constant steady multiples being shot off. The valley did a great job of muting the noise (I really dislike the booming and screeching noises that frequently involve fireworks) with just enough breeze to not have to smell the gunpowder smoke. It was really nice.

We Norman Rockwelled the whole day and had a very good time of it!
