6" of snow here is typically no big deal. What sucks is snow changing over to rain and freezing on contact on everything. That's what we got this past week. Not to mention cold, cold, cold! Single digits at night, barely 20 during the day. And winter won't be here officially until Thursday. lol.

Ice like that is hard to deal with. You have my sympathies.

Its supposed to get cold here the last half of the week. They are still trying to figure out if there will be snow, but there will be single digit temps.

A little more snow yesterday, ice and freezing rain today, rain tonight. One good thing...the ice at the end of the driveway was plowed out earlier this evening. Yea! Supposed to be nice tomorrow then a major snow storm Christmas day - 8 to 12 inches. Supposed to go to my son's Christmas day...think I might be home.

We are getting your 6-12" right now, Moo. I went into a store for about fifteen minutes and had to brush over an inch off the windsheild when I came out. It was halfway to my knees when I was unloading the truck at home. 'Glad I don't need to be anywhere for a while.

We didn't get as much of the white stuff, but holy moly all those flakes in the air and the wind blowing sure makes it look blizzardish around here. Today supposed to be about the same ... but now we are heading into a major DEEP FREEZE. Highs between -20C & -25C ( -4F to -13F) this week (yup, you heard right, those are the highs). Predicted to last until Jan 5, 2018

Yup. Staying home Christmas day - besides the snow, blowing and drifting. Yippee. Howler - that deep freeze is going to be here sometime this week. At least we're due to get to single digits above 0 for our highs. Another storm might be coming for New Year's. I don't go out New Year's so bring it on! lol! Time to go clean the ice off my car.

one can only hope this system affects Paint's area!!!
weather warning alert just issued for us:

Severe Weather Alerts - Alerts for: Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake
Extreme Cold Warning
Extreme Cold Warning in effect until Monday, 7:29 AM CST. Source: Environment Canada

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

A frigid Arctic air mass has swept into the province behind a cold front that marched through the region on Saturday. Temperatures will fall to around the minus 30 degree mark tonight and combined with brisk northwest winds of 20 to 30 km/h, extreme wind chill values of -40 to -45 can be expected overnight and Christmas morning. This cold Arctic airmass will remain entrenched over the region for the foreseeable future so expect extreme wind chill values in the -40 to -45 range, especially during the overnight and morning hours, for at least the next 6 days.

Winds are expected to be lighter over southwestern Saskatchewan, so although the temperatures will be cold, the wind chill values will not be as extreme as the rest of the province.

Our weather reports do this very serious discussion about slippery roads and mandatory winter tires or chains. They talk about what roads are closed and all the "doom and gloom" parts.... then they get giddy about this Resort getting a foot here and another getting twenty inches there, and how its perfect for Christmas for everyone who came here to ski. I'm debating going to the kids' house for the festivities because I don't really have enough weight in the bed of my truck (its rear-wheel drive) But - for here it really is money falling from the skies.

(It was snowing sideways yesterday. 'Felt like being sand-blasted by little needles....)
