I just got this email:

May 15th is maybe 48 hours... nice notice.
(Sorry, it seems my inner Slytherin is showing.)

Pottermore from J.K. Rowling
Change is afoot

We’ve got some important news and wanted you to be the first to know. Over the coming months we will be packing up our box of quizzes, features and articles, and moving them to WizardingWorld.com.

Wizarding World Digital – a new joint venture between Pottermore and Warner Bros. – will be bringing out new digital experiences in the coming months.

Wizarding World Digital will be responsible for managing WizardingWorld.com and Pottermore.com, including their registered user databases (aka – including you). The switchover is planned on or around 15 May 2019. As Pottermore Ltd is the current data controller for your personal information, your data will transfer over to Wizarding World Digital LLC and Wizarding World Digital Ltd on that date.

Now, that may all sound like Parseltongue. So, to read more about our privacy policy and how your data will be used and processed in the future click here.

hmmmmm .... your data will transfer over ... interesting
Sorry - I still have a "bitter shoulder chip" over the last move; the one where only a weeks notice was given for all the little treasures you found during the interactive games (and heaven forbid any of that stuff could be saved or moved to the brand new Pottermore)

I used to go to the old site weekly ... it was so much fun
I seldom if ever go to Pottermore now (maybe once or twice a year)

the move must be very financially beneficial to JKR, because why else would she again uproot and join - besides, I thought Pottermore was already in cahoots with WB... or did I miss something?

I really liked the first site (that looked like her desk top). It was active and we (the fans) did so much there, discovered so many tidbits of coming Potter stuff, had our W.O.M.B.A.T. info stored. Every Christmas there had been a brilliant Treasure Hunt that we'd go through the steps to find and share the "how-tos" as they were discovered.

Then it was gone...

It was replaced with a lame "author's site" that rivaled the work of Robert Galbraith.

Eventually that went away, then along comes Pottermore that has lots of great info to read, games for those who do that, and while it isn't as good as the first, its a good Potter site.

Now its being taken over by a Profits-First company with a proven track record of jacking around the fans just so it can make more money...

I have a curator's spirit and like to keep things available. If she had turned the first into a read only, I'd be disappointed, but still go there. I'm not happy that it was dumped. With her penchant for cavalierly tossing things important to fans, I tried to capture the good backstory info from Pottermore, but ended up leaving a lot of it there when it became so huge of a project. I suspect I've missed the chance to do it now.

Potter has been such a huge part of my life, and Newt is becoming a favourite... but... I don't have high hopes for this next project.

What was the name of the site that was prior to Pottermore - the one where there were so many interactive pages like "toss the garden gnome" and flip the Malfoy ferret and visit shops in Diagon Alley ... find all sorts of items. prizes etc to earn badges?

yes - the original one that had the wombat tests and chase the spider across the first page on the desk was awesome!!!

I'm remembering all of them prior to Pottermore as jkrowling.com, but the one right before might be something else. * unsure *

Wow! I just went to jkrowling.com for the grins of it and it opened to a desk, but the desk has been upgraded! I thought that whole site name went away with Pottermore. (Maybe hoped it did with all its Galbraith yucky stuff.)
