Wound up with just over 2" of snow followed by a layer of freezing drizzle. Getting to work wasn't bad but going home was a bear! My 25 minute trip took 40 minutes and it was dark, which seems to make things worse. Four 4 cars down the embankments and I was still in Bangor. And that was just on the northbound side of the interstate. Left Bangor on my way to Old Town; saw a few more cars down the embankment that looked like they were on the southbound side. Lots of flashing police and tow truck lights. At least the roads in Old Town weren't that bad but you still had to be careful. Got more coming tomorrow - freezing rain in the morning transitioning to rain. I have the day off.

Oh...temps have been what we usually get the end of December into January. Been freezing! Single digits in the morning, teens and 20s during the day...oh, lets not forget the wind chill. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I'm very glad you weren't involved in any problems. Icy is the scariest of driving conditions.

{{{ hugs }}}

You never know but I'm not holding my breath on spring in February. Have a feeling our highs will be below zero. oy! Most of the snow we got is gone, major roads have been well treated so driving wasn't bad at all but still had to slow down. Most folks did just that for a change. This week the weather isn't going to be good. Rain and snow showers off and on thru Thanksgiving (Tuesday is supposed to be sunny at least). Sun Friday and into the weekend but cold and windy. Oh joy. Getting quite used to driving with my boots on. lol.

We, on the other hand, are supposed to get a foot of snow between Monday around two pm, and Tuesday afternoon, quite a bit of which will be horizontal.

See me smile?

we had a bit of nice weather last week - nothing great except that it wasn't the -20C that it has been.
so of course, before the cold snap returned last night, it began to rain - then it turned to ice - then to snow.
and the snow is supposed to fall for most of the day today.

highways are going to be so much fun over the next few days ... not!

Winter arrived on Halloween, with around four inches of snow. This was followed by temps in the low 20's F. It was quite a shock to the trees, as the weather had been quite mild until up to that point. I can't remember ever seeing all the leaves just drop overnight before. It was quite the sight seeing piles of leaves beneath the trees, that were still mostly green. :shock:

We got that same storm a day or so before and it did the same here. There were some trees that the leaves didn't detach; just hung there, dark green-to-brown and dead-looking. We don't get the colours like you do in the first place, so things were pretty drab... summer to blah in thirty seconds.I think we dropped 60 degrees in 24 hrs. Which also has the added perk of making my sinuses hurt... :doh:

Surprisingly the wet snow didn't cause many branches to break.

High winds yesterday. Very disappointing. For a man with as many flashlights as myself, the power never even flickered. :angry-banghead:
