We have had the blasted white crap several days this week. And if it isn't snowing, it is blowing like a son of a b**ch! The roads have been crap all week. The sanding trucks can't keep up to the ice film that forms when the snow blows (and sticks) across the highways. Lots of vehicles in the ditch; several truckers jackknifed across the lanes ... oh the fun!

to top it all off, the town has decided that it is okay that they don't push the snow away from my yard - or rather, anyone on my side of the street's yards. They cleared several feet in front of my driveway - but only enough for one or two vehicles to get through (which is wide enough for 3 or 4-vehicles to park side by side) but they didn't clear any snow approx 10 feet from the sidewalk all along my side of the street. I now have to hire someone to snowblow the snow on the street ... which is completely ridiculous!!! I wrote to the town office (a lovely email thanking them, of course) and asking them if they would please get around to clearing more snow from our side of the street. With the wind howling as much as it has this week, I am pretty much down to a single lane getting out of my driveway. Grrrrr!!!

have I mentioned lately how much I dislike snow!!! I don't mind the cold ... just hate all this white stuff. We have got 2-3 feet of the stuff. And with the drifts, it is piling up quite high already. There just isn't much space left to put all of it.

Holy! Didn't know you've gotten that much s**t no one wants alreaday. Last week, the few inches we got...accidents all over the interstate, which wasn't plowed and made it slick as hell! I called in sick that day due to my sinuses going totally nuts (thought I was coming down with a cold or the flu). A friend told me a semi kinda sorta jack knifed, blocked the southbound lanes where I would get on the interstate. Folks stuck there for quite a while.

we received over 2 ft last week; and it just hasn't let up. Got a crapload more yesterday as well.
and yesterday ... silly me ... there were 6 or 8 semi trailers parked on the major highway at my town's intersection. I should have realized that something was up ... but no, just drive to work Colleen. Forgot to check the weather report and the road conditions report. Huge Alert - Travel NOT Recommended. What a crap drive it was! And it was my own fault. I could have taken a few hours of "time off" until the roads cleared - if only my brain wasn't still in summer mode.

The brilliant planners here put the Interstate over top of the smaller roads in places, which means that when its shut down there isn't any other way around. It gets shut down several times every year for snow or rock slides. It also means cops and ambulances can't get past the traffic back-ups. Sometimes I'm impressed with the level of stupidity that always seem to end up in control...

sometimes I wonder if people who hold positions of authority can see further than "tomorrow"

I had been very fortunate to live for quite a few years in a small city in Alberta that was very well thought out (would likely move back there tomorrow if I had enough $$$'s). The subdivisions were given names ... the name of the streets in that subdivision all began with the same first letter of the subdivision name. Until they got 26 subdivisions, they were pretty much golden. You knew exactly where a place was when you heard the street name. Each subdivision had a Huge sign with a map of all the streets at the entrance. For example, if the street you needed to get to was named Roslin, then the street was in the "Rosedale Subdivision" ... the map shows that it is two lefts and one right from the entrance. The city was pretty much quartered ... two/three major lanes north and two/three major lanes going south ... the same for east and west. The major lanes were one ways. It was so damn easy to get around in that city! I compare all cities to this place - none have equalled it in ease of getting around.

Well, we've had so much rain, was kinda happy about getting some snow (5 - 10 inches), as it is that time of year. Disappointed. Wound up with a little snow and heavy downpours with a LOT of wind. At least the rain will help our drought conditions. Didn't lose power tho lights flashed quite a few times. Getting a little snow right now; plow went by a little while ago. Just seasonable cold - either side of 30 - the rest of the week. At least I won't have to drive in any crappy weather we do get as I'm teleworking. Will just need the power to stay on.

We are sitting here at 20F above normal, waiting for Friday when the high won't be as high as today's low, and its supposed to snow. How did the species survive without Holofil and weatherproof boots?... ways to get somewhere that were warmer than their houses... fresh veggies in the cold seasons...

I'm so spoiled!

the weather has been quite nice here ... a tiny bit above freezing, which is creating a lot of ice hazards.
moisture - in the form of solid white flakes - are predicted today or tomorrow

Cloudy, cloudy, cloudy. Rain, freezing rain, glaze of ice, a little snow. Wednesday and Thursday, temps in the teens for the high, snow maybe Wednesday night into Thursday. So glad I don't have to drive in it.
