Tuesday's snow turned out to be just flurries, not even any accumulation, then it went back to lots of degrees above "seasonal", but starting tomorrow its supposed to be closer to "seasonal" all week, with snow or rain depending on elevation, for all week.

And now we are getting the third round of snow this week. The first two were an inch or two that melted off by mid-day, but this time is supposed to be between 8-10" by Friday afternoon.

Our evening news said Moo will get snow, too.

Was supposed to hit us but barely got a dusting; gone by late morning. Mountains got a few inches for the most part but that was about it. Got a lot of rain and some snow showers; just enough to mess up the windshield. This past week was nice to start (got to do much needed yard work and opened my kitchen window), crappy middle of the week, end of the week was nice and warmer but windy Friday. Love a nice breeze but that was nuts. In the low 70s yesterday...opened windows! Fresh air! ahhhhhh!

Today, back to cloudy and a bit cooler. In the 30s at night, 50s during the day if we're lucky. But then again, it's Maine...if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. It'll change. lol.

Well ... we survived the May 23 snow storm, so we should be able to survive this.

On Monday, June 28th, Saskatchewan lost some of its fame.
On July 5, 1937, the mercury rose to 45 C (113 F) in both Yellow Grass and Midale, Sask. - which was the hottest temperature officially recorded in Canada.

59 heat records were broken in British Columbia on Monday June 28th - the hottest being Lytton, BC with a whopping temp of 47.9 C (119 F)... stealing Saskatchewan's (nearly) 84 year old record.

According to the news article, the hottest Las Vegas has ever been is 47.2 C

The heat wave hit Sask this week as well, and we are expected to have very high temps for the remainder of July ... ouch!! The last few days we are hitting temps between 30C (86F) and 37C (98F).

As the saying goes ... "" I really gotta get my act together, ... this heat makes me realize that I can't go to hell ""

Oops - almost forgot to mention ... 3 tornados touched down in Sask last week (approx 300 KM from me)

Yikes! Hope you have ways to keep cool. I think even Death Valley, CA, beat it's old record. Having lived in Las Vegas, I remember temps 110 - 115 but not so early; the hottest I remember is 119 a long time ago.

We got through that mess that found Maine. Broke a LOT of records here, too. Hot, hazy, humid and 70+ dew points suck. Talk about oppressive. ugh! Yup...if I wind up in Hell, I'm in BIG trouble!

Many folks here have wells and they're running dry, even after having water brought in because of lack of rain. We're in a drought situation through most of the state. We've gotten rain the past few days, which I hope helps. At least next week, only one day were the temp is going to be oppressive. I hope. We REALLY need a good drenching rain.

We haven't had any tornados but a couple of microbursts from the heat that did manage to hit a few towns. Damage looked like a tornado hit...uprooted trees, damaged homes, downed power lines. What a mess! Luckily no injuries; hope no one was hurt in those tornados in your neck of the woods, Howler.

I am just really, really glad that the air conditioning has been fixed at work. Was a tad warm in that building for a while!

The weather patterns have been giving the province a bit of grief ... lots of warnings this year for tornadoes. Glad it has only been a couple touch downs and nothing near me.

We have also been in a drought ... third year in a row. The last two years we have had less rain that what was recorded in the "dirty thirties". A couple spots in the province are getting rain though ... far more than their fair share ... wouldn't it be nice if it could even out.

We had a couple weeks of August weather in the first couple weeks of June (Denver had lots of high 90sF/35+C, then three 100F/37+C days with more high 90s/35s after - a very unusual June) which was far too hot for here that early. Then it got chilly (60s F/16-18C) for the last part of June while you've been roasting, and rained a lot for here (which is good - we've been in drought, too, for far too long and rain is so much nicer than fire...). That brought the eastern half of the state up to not being in drought conditions. The western half of the state came up some, but is still dryer than it should be. (that whole side drains into the Colorado River, which supplies the water for all the states between here and the Pacific. So points west are too dry, with reservoirs only1/3 to 1/2 their needed depth.)

The last 12 or so days its been kind of normal/average for summertime temperature-wise (high 90sF/35-37C in Denver, here runs 5-10 cooler because of the altitude), and hopefully there will be more and consistent rain, otherwise we'll slide back into scary dry conditions. Our west side really needs water, as does Utah, southern California, Nevada, Arizona all of which are in horrid shape water/drought/heat-wise, and the Colorado River is supposed to provide them with water for their population centers.

Even more TMI Department -
The water compacts were set up in the early 1920s, during a particularly wet few years, so are over-apportioned to start with. They could suck the Colorado River completely dry and not fulfill what was promised for their use. (Except now there have been amendments that keep a minimum amount of water in the River despite what the agreements of the states/people say.)

We are also still in a heat wave ... the whole month of July has been quite unbearable!! And no end in sight.

rain has been sparse and scattered; some parts of the province are getting rain, but lots of areas are not.

where is that 3-day soaker when you need it? The kind that blankets the entire province in cloud and moisture - we could sure use it. If for no other reason, to put out the many many fires within our province. I believe we have approx 137 fires burning right now ... most of it in the northern part of the province. However, the smoke has drifted all the way down to the south; so very difficult to breath out there (burns the eyes too)
