I think we've gotten most of the rain along with remnants of Elsa...wet, wet, wet! We've had the usual summer thunderstorms; little relief just before baking everything again and back to hot, hazy, and humid. ugh! Luckily we're not in a heat wave right now but temps have been in the mid to upper 80s (only a few towns hit 90+) and hot, hazy, humid. Sleeping at night this time of year...yah. No such thing. Raining today, clearing up late this afternoon/early evening. With any luck...sleeping weather for at least one night. Would be nice.

UGH!!!!! Hot, hazy, humid most of the week. Dew points 70+ and temps 90+! Glad that round is over. Dryer, cooler air this morning (and so far) and dew points in the 50s. Even my shower this morning felt good. ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I've been staying inside as much as I can because of the smoke from the West Coast... kind of wasting the last bit of summer. Yesterday and today are about the best its been since mid-July. There have been times when it was thick enough that I'd have sworn the fires were just a mountain or two away, and there were a couple times when it woke me up. (There's something primal about smelling smoke that kind of forces you to be alert even if you know its not that close.)

Ditto Howler. Scary. We haven't had as much smoke lately but it's been hot, hazy, and humid. No relief until later this week. Henri is going to mostly miss my neck of the woods (Bangor area). We'll get torrential downpours and that's about it. Winds aren't supposed to be bad, about 20 - 30 mph. We're getting lucky with this one. Just need to survive the 3 H's until Friday. ugh!

Yikes - that is brutal!
I do remember one year in the early 1980's when it was -31C on Aug 30th (yup, that many degrees below zero). Some years it just happens.

Our temps plummeted this week. Unbelievable. We went from 30-40C temps down to 15-20C (highs) over night. What happened to the mid range temps 20-25C??? Maybe they will show up in Sept, but I won't hold my breath!

OMG ... we finally got rain!!! Happy Dance!!!
over the last week we have had nearly 3"
considering we only got 1/2' moisture since end of May, it is so very welcome and so very needed.

to add insult to injury though, the flower seeds that I planted this spring ... the ones that I faithfully watered daily for over a month (actually got up 1/2 hour early every day so that I could do this on work days) ... the ones that only a handful actually (kind of) half grew) ... are just now starting to grow. How the hell is that possible? I was so upset with all my annual flowers this year because they either did not grow or if they did grow, they were stunted and pathetic ... I pulled nearly all of them two weeks ago and tossed them in the garbage. The only annuals I kept alive were my sunflowers and two hanging baskets of petunias. What a hopeless 'flower' year for me!! Already getting prepared for next year's layout. I am going to let those "late starters" live; the snow will take care of them.

I am hoping for a LONG, LONG autumn weather ... actually hoping for none of the white stuff until January. I may live in dream land, but it is a fun land to be in!!

Remnants of Ida just gave us a LOT of rain but nothing like what New York and New Jersey got. Yikes! Our temps the past few days have been mid 60s if we're lucky during the day; 46 degrees last night. Supposed to be more seasonal this week somewhere in the 70s. We'll see. Some rain but nothing like we just got. No snow in the mountains here but at this point, wouldn't surprise me. Weird weather year. Holy cow!

Well - that appears to be the end of our rain. No more in the forecast. Guess my plants will have to be thankful for the meager 3" they got

temps have been very nice here. One overly warm day yesterday, but after that pretty normal (thank goodness! Couldn't take much more of that blasted heat). Actually got out with my camera over the weekend - was wonderful!

Actually able to turn my fans down to lowest setting or off entirely. A little early but that's okay. They need a break after the heat we've had. Supposed to be near 80 today and I can live with that. Seasonal the rest of the week with a little rain here, a little rain there. Temps in the low 70s, low to mid 50s at night. Works for me. The only thing that sucks is dawn isn't until after 6 am, sunset around 6:50 pm or earlier. hmpf. Oh well, tis that time of year, I guess.
