I completely understand the point of view to prohibit any discrimination pertaining to the casting; what I do not understand is how ... how in heaven's name ... can children; young children ... have a sexual orientation? boggles the mind.

Will the new Harry be given contacts to make his eyes GREEN?
I rather like the looks of the new Hermione ... especially because of her teeth
the new Ron sure has the hair ... !!! Hopefully he is taller than the new Harry
John Lithgow might make a fine Dumbledore ... possibly

I was rather upset by the commentator stating that Rupert Grint did not display personality and emotional range in the movies ... HELLO ... the writers made that nearly impossible

I had the same impression. I don't think any pro should be dissing the last guys. I like Rupert Grint and thought they gave him the crap end of the stick. Ron in books was pretty cool.

And Dan's eyes went all red and watery when they tried to have him wear contacts... I bet this kid will be the same, so not hopeful for green.

(and its not in this video, but... I'm trying to keep an open mind. I do have a problem with changing race for Snape. No idea how there are supposed to be long greasy curtains of hair when your genetics don't allow for that. But, again, trying to keep an open mind and be hopeful its closer to the books.)

I hear you about Snape.
The image I had in my head from the books wasn't Alan Rickman, but he did portrait the character well.
The image I had in my head from the books certainly isn't Paapa Essiedu; but will certainly keep an open mind as well. As long as he is true to the "character" traits ... (fingers crossed)

IMDB- Harry Potter TV Series

they sure have a lot of characters picked already!

"MY" Snape looked more like Filch sort of, except black greasy hair. He needed to look like the creepy school janitor from horror movies... with shoulders that curl toward his chest and a swoopy-loping gait. He was supposed to be the guy who yells to get off his lawn, only with some actual menace. I read something back early-on that she patterned him after a creepy guy (she didn't like) who was a real person.

Anyhow, "my" Snape was better.

They could even have cast Remus with a black actor, that would work, but Snape just doesn't.
