Does this mean that I must now set the both of you up with fire fighting gear?

Be advised, you may send any of your fires to me at any time.

Not sure how you are keeping up with the fire situation, Howler.
Do you check-in here?

special air quality statement for Saskatchewan
updated by Environment Canada
at 6:04 PM CST Wednesday 9 July 2014.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Special air quality statement ended
---------------------------------------------------------------------
==Discussion==
smoke from Forest fires continues to sit over the province but is
slowly moving eastward. Air quality sensors across the province are
showing elevated particulate matter and reduced air quality.

The smoke is forecast to continue to move eastward and become less
dense. Air quality levels are expected to improve overnight for
western sections and Thursday morning over eastern sections.

Children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems should take
care. People in good health should consider reducing strenuous
activities outdoors.
End

Yikes! Nature's bonfires...scary. Hope those fires don't find your neck of the woods or Paint's. Have only seen local news. Think I might need to check CNN...stay safe, you two!

thanks for the link Paint.
it was still pretty thick this morning while driving to work, but not nearly as bad when I came home. It is definitely moving! thank goodness!

If the smoke was this far away and causing this much trouble, I can't imagine what it is like for those closer to the fire sites ... how do they breath?

Maybe you could visit Figgy & Loony (Whatever happened to her) this fall.

I saw sky and clouds this morning ... woohoo!

just a pondering thought ... does heavy rainfall take smoke to the ground when it is hanging in the air like it has been? I believe I read some place that volcanic smoke/ash goes above the cloud levels and are unaffected that way, but smoke from fire doesn't get that high, does it?

then again, maybe I have got my information mixed up.

It would seem logical that the smoke would "wash" out of the air if the rain was thick enough. I know hail forms around small specks of stuff, so it might make for more hail.

Oh great and mighty fire expert, what say ye?

I'm thinking; that which stays lower, is just washed out in the rain.
Particulates that get high enough to not be rained to ground, will eventually succumb to gravity.
If I'm wrong, at least it sounds good. :shifty:
