Holy smokin' rain clouds - did we ever get poured on near the end of the rodeo!
Other than the rodeo committee and the contestants, I am the only idiot standing in the downpour, and yes, with my camera trying to get shots of the bull riders. Yes - I got drenched! But my camera didn't and that's what counts!

the lightning was pretty interesting too.

Safe to assume you weren't out in the downpour when the lightening made its appearance. That said, hope you got some shots of the lightening (from a safe place) along with the rodeo.

We've had some of the smoke here, too. Hasn't been real hot here lately (only 70 - 80), which is weird. Usually hot, hazy, humid...we've only had 2 or 3 days in the 90's all summer so far. Been close but the humidity has had no problem making a constant appearance, tho.

lol - good ol' plastic bags.
but I didn't get any good shots of the riders ... got lots of shots of riders in rain tho.

the lightning was mainly negative (I think) none touched down where we were.
as much as I think lightning shots are awesome, I doubt I would be the one taking that shot ... I'm not fond of it. And yup, the last hour of the rodeo there was quite a bit of lightning. Some of the youngsters started squealing pretty loud after a few thunder snaps.

==Discussion==

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe
thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts,
large hail and heavy rain.

Thunderstorms have developed and are expected to continue into this
evening.

Fast moving water across a Road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail
can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss
loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and
overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce
tornadoes. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately,
if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm
strikes. There isn't a place outside that is safe during a
thunderstorm. Stay away from all windows, skylights and doors. In
Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year. Remember, when
thunder roars, go indoors.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required.
Please continue to monitor your local media or weatheradio for
further updates. If you would like to report severe weather, you can
call 1-800-239-0484 or send an email to storm(at)ec.Gc.CA or tweet
reports to (hash)skstorm.

Let's hope they pass you by. Though close enough to get a few shots would be nice.
