Well, I've been quite enjoying the 80's temps during the day, 50's at night. Ahhhhh...soothing! We should be back to normal temps by the end of the week but it appears to be a gradual cool down, thank goodness. A lot of the trees here are also changing color, about 50%...too early. Oh well. It's almost time to get my oil tank filled; not looking forward to that bill.

The last week has brought quite a leaf change here as well.
Temps. in this area have been quite similar to yours Moo.
Thank goodness the dew points have begun to dip below 60F.

Seems oil heat is still very popular in the NE. Natural gas is more common here.
Either way it beats banking a coal fire for the night.

Or chopping enough wood for the winter.

tomorrow we are suppose to have a high of 15°C (58°F)
wish I could phone in 'healthy', but alas it is still crunch time for year end work.

I actually enjoy splitting fire wood. On a cool crisp autumn day, I find it rather relaxing*.
Haven't done it for a while, but I still have my dad's old wedges, splitting maul and sledge. Not sure how many generations they have seen.
You can keep the chopping. I prefer chain saws.

Still warm around here for the next few days until the rain comes in.

* Same goes for shoveling snow. What can I say, I like it.

At least the dew points here have be quite comfortable - 40's to low 50's. For heat, few use natural gas and some use propane tho wood stoves and pellet stoves are quite popular here. Very few use electric - too expensive, worse than oil. At least I have a small house and it's just me so oil heat isn't too bad. It's do-able.

I own a shovel and a chainsaw ... LOL ... so, you can help any time Paint
(tree branches need cutting; plants need transplanting (yes, shovel work) :teasing-neener:

last year I broke down an bought a snow blower. I never got to actually use it tho, hubby claimed it as his new toy - and actually used it; which is pretty remarkable considering snow removal is one of my chores (he has health issues). I can only hope he is capable to do the same this winter.

Let's enjoy our beautiful weather everyone!

Keep the spade. I've never found one that fits.
I don't shovel snow with a scoop shovel either.
