Seems like the weather for all us, to quote Figgy, is giving us all whiplash. Yikes! Last Sunday it was so windy, knocked out power out for a short time while I was in the shower. So besides losing an hour of sleep, came out to find the clocks blinking, the tv turned off, the cable box not working, and my modem missing 2 blinking lights. Had power and heat but no tv and no internet until late in the afternoon. Had to turn the wifi off on my phone so I at least could access the internet there. sheesh! And foggy, foggy, foggy in the mornings and sometimes at night. Yah.

Supposed to be nice the first part of this week, crappy Thursday, clearing Friday and in time for the weekend. At least the temps are supposed to be okay...40ish during the day. Can live with that. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop aka spring snow storm/blizzard that'll cover everything back up. Welcome to Maine! lol

The weather finally turned on the 15th ... YAY!
spring like temps are melting the snow.
It will be a fabulous day when my driveway is finally without any ice or snow

Just waiting for the insurance company to help with my roofing repairs ... all those winds and storms blew away a lot of shingles.

(Glad they didn't do worse than shingles. The Wind has been scary harsh.)

well - insurance company is not gong to help me. I have been repairing this roof for over two years (have lost over half my shingles in 2 yrs). I need a new roof and the insurance company says "no". Only $10,000 to fix ... nothing serious, right? HOLY HELL ... !!!!

The cost of living in Canada is OUTRAGEOUS!

Why won't the insurance company pay? Its essential to the structural integrity to have a good roof... not to mention comfort and safety of inhabitants. It sounds like they're trying to weasel out. What does a metal one cost? Even with the difference of USD to CAN, it should be half of that.

Well, that's total bs, Howler. Even if they won't pay for all of it, they could at least help with some of the cost. The federal agency I work for, USDA Rural Development, has a program that helps some homeowners with home repairs or replacing some things like windows and doors. Replacing the roof is part of the program. Granted there's a lot it won't do but there's still a lot it will do. It's a combination loan and/or grant (you have to be at least 62 years old for the grant). It's helped so many people. Maybe one of your government agencies has something similar that might help. It's worth checking out.

At least the yoyo weather has slowed down a lot. Warmer temps have pretty much melted what snow and ice we had and what little we did get. Now we're dealing with rain most of the time but it's not that bad. We had a LOT of fog Friday morning; visibility was 1/4 mile for a while. Had to go to the office and luckily most of the fog was gone. whew. Hate driving in fog.

I will have to look into it Moo. Not sure that we have anything anymore ... we used to, but help was only available for home owners with any type of disability.

The last few weeks weather has been awesome.
The next few days, not so much ... we are (again) expecting snow storms. So very tired of winter/spring trying to kill us here.
